Bergen Community Program

Published

I was just accepted into Bergenn CC's Nursing Day program for Fall 07. I was just wondering about a few things, so anybody that has been or is currently in their program your help would be greatly appreciated.

So I know there is an orientation late August, but I would like to find out some things sooner. Besides the Criminal Background check, is there definitely a drug screening? Is that needed to register for classes as well or is that done later on?

Also, what types of materials did you need to purchase? Does the program allow PDA's and if so did you use them often?

Any adivce would be great! Thanks! :wink2:

I did not know that it was adaptive. Very interresting. Anyways im not thinking about the test anymore... I GOT IN... and that's all that matters. I was wondering what kind of pda do any of you have? What do you recommend? Where do you get your programs from? I didn't even know that pda's were that popular for nursing school until I started reading a lot of posts on this site. I am very interrested in this and want as much info as possible.

I have a Palm T/X. I cannot make a recommendation, because I only purchased it a week ago, and I have never had a PDA before. I am somewhat computer literate, so I know I will learn how to use it, but have not really sat down with it yet - although I did download several programs epocrates, diagnosaurus, and nursing central trial version (which includes several programs).

Nursing Central is from unbound. Skyscape is also a much recommended site (from people on these boards).

I also downloaded some games onto an SD card that I received for free by doing a google search for free Palm games.

Although I have done this - I have not sat down and really tried to work with it yet - hmm, I guess I shoulkd do that this coming week.

I purchased my Palm from Dell, as I have been a Dell customer for years and have never had a problem with them - but that is MY experience, I know others have had problems with Dell. Also, you can probably get it cheaper somewhere else.

I chose the Palm T/X for it's memory and reputation, as told on this board and other opinions I have gleaned.

ANything else you need to know, you can PM me.

Lori

Yea, after doing some research on these boards and other sites I am planning on buying the Palm T/X...well hoping to get it as a congrats present from my parents lol ;).

I'm looking to getting most of my programs from Skyscape.

Hey! girls Con grates to all of you who are accepted in program me. I am a Recent Grads from BCC" nursing program me. I am very proud that i did my nursing from BCC, I just have a one advice to all of you that you have to work very hard to get through the pro gramme, the prof are all cool except one in GIIIIIIIIII.... . Don't worry you can do it.

Did you purchase an extended warranty of any sort?? I'm probably gonna order mine from Palm's site and trying to figure out if it's worth it to pay a bit more money for the extended warranty.

No, I normally do not purchase extended warranties. I used to all the time, never used them. In the past 10 years, one time I would have liked to have it.

However, I did purchase a hard case for the TX, just in case I drop it.

There was a link at the top of the page before the site was updated to get a TX for $238, which is less than Ipaid - but I am not sure where you had to buy it from. Maybe someone else knows and can head you in the right direction.

Heyyy, thanks!! Question - were PDA's permitted and did many people use them??

heeelllloooo everybody. k so i was wondering if anyone else got into the student handbook. cuz i can't do it. AND has anybody heard anything about uniforms? AND has anybody registered yet???

The student handbook is not available yet - when it is - the password they sent you with your acceptance letter will work.

You cannot register until your criminal background check comes back.

Hopefully, you have already sent in your information for that. They say it takes 10 days, but I do not know how accurate that is.

I believe you have to get uniforms at Belles - but that info will be in our student handbook - or they will cover that at orientation.

Lori

Yea, Lori62 pretty much covered it...My background check was emailed to me already, so I'm assuming the school got a copy already...I can't register yet because I still have to hand in all my physical/immunization stuff to Health Services.

Hey Sweetgrl do you remember what day you turned in your stuff to adamsafeguard? I have not rec'd an email from them yet - and it's been 10 working days :(but I have lived in several states - NJ, NY, IN, NC, OK, and HA)

I know I have no arrest record - but I do wish they would hurry it up.

I did it online Tuesday night, the 19th, and just got the e-mail Thursday the 28th...So it took a week and it was only for New Jersey, thought they would do New York since I went to school there but it did not come up.

Yea, I'm assuming since you have lived in several states it may take up to two weeks or possibly longer....is there anyone you can contact to check up on it?
