Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course! :eek:

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

@Daddyo Where do we buy our uniforms? Do you recommend we get one or a few?

@cele25 congrats!

Jschroder, I believe we have to order them from Belle Uniform in paterson ( they are white so I will order 2 just in case;-) there is a nursing packet online at bergen.edu, it mentions the uniforms and the books etc. take a look

Belle has the BCC badge that needs to be on the uniform too. They are located in Paterson...not good parking.

@mike is this mike from my chem class? I would go to the advisors office on Monday. Get there early as a few people have similar questions. I hope it works out for you:)

@Jschroder..no i'm not the same mike. I'm not sure if going to the nursing office would be a good idea, my letter states not to contact or e-mail the nursing office and rather to visit the center for academic services. I have had a bad experience with the nursing office, i think i got off on a bad foot with them. I thought I had a high chance of being accepted with my hesi score but i guess there might be some other kinks that need to be straightened out. Anyone with a 91+ HESI score and a 3.6+ GPA not accepted? Is there a good advisor that you guys can recommend?

I am in!

Congrats. Good luck. What were your HESI and GPA scores if you don't mind sharing?

Mike...i can't find the post I made a couple years ago, but i too received a similar letter. my issue involved a class or two not meeting the requirements. i have a bachelors from another college so there was a lot of back and forth but it end up working out for me. My counselor played a huge part in the resolution.

Good Luck !

DaddyO, thanks for the suggestions. I hope its a case of pre req or two and easily adressed. Did you have to wait out a semester to fulfill your pre reqs? Did you have to take the HESI again? Who was your counselor? are there any that you would recommend? This is nerve wrecking.

anyone register yet?

I registered today! I'm very excited even though there is a whole list of stuff that needs to get done!
