Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Thanks!
lol that's funny! I'm just trying to stay calm... stay positive! Ommmmm! =) That's all I can do for myself at this point. This afternoon, I thought of the other girls when I saw the bottle of wine in my living room. I was so tempted to drink but forgot about it because I was on my phone checking my webadvisor and emails. haha. :)
Haha..I think the same when I look in the fridge. My boyfriend bought some campagne after I took the test but I told him we will open it when final decisions come out so I really know if I've opened the bottle for happiness or not.
I absolutely hope we all get in!
Also welcome & good luck to all the newcomers!
Hi Cherry Blossom. Yes, I've done all my pre-req's at BCC and hope to get in the program there too!
I used to practice Yoga, now Idon't have much time anymore, but I try to meditate and center my spirit as often as I can. *Not always successfully*:-(
Who are you taking Yoga with?
Are you applying to the Day Nursing Program as well?
Good luck to everyone! Let's stay positive!!! Remember, we'll have to do a CPR class before Sept. We should be scheduling that!
Smile to yourself!
They do have CPR courses at Bergen for around 72$ and there's a couple dates listed online. I'm thinking of doing that because that's pretty convient for me and it's also from AHA which is valid for the nursing program. I am certified and it expires this month but instead of just renewing I will probably take the class again so it's fresh in my head for the test

I'm taking yoga on my own. I was shy of one credit and it was the only available class that didn't conflict with my schedule. So I grabbed the opportunity and glad I did. The benefits of yoga is amazing. I'm excited and can't wait to try it out at the beach.:)
Yes,I applied for the Day Nursing Program :)
I really hope I get in because all these nursing books in my room are waiting for me. Haha. My sister-in-law just graduated so I got lucky! I felt like I won the lottery when she handed them to me...:)
Btw, Good Luck!!! Namaste....
I love that everyone is doing their own thing to de-stress... The last thing we need i a couple wrinkles or to turn prematurley grey! After all we want to be a bunch of hot nurses rite! ... Jk!
Does anyone know anything about the hours n days of actual classes and clinicals for the day program... Im looking into childcare n trying to crunch the numbers in case i get in!
ArisMommy, you are looking at around 13.5 hours week. E.g ( taken from webadvisor schedule for Fall 2011): Firday 8-10.00 (nur181),11.25-1.25 (nur183)
Thursday 8.00-8.55 (nur 182),10-1.00(nur183)
Tuesday, Wed 8.00-12.30
So basically you can get away with only 4 days a week half time. Not bad, around $130 a week with early care:) unless you have to take general courses, which would add 2 more days
I was in the evening program, but the day program is similar. It is 4days/week. The evening program always had Fridays off, but the day program varies. In addition to your 4 days/week you will need many hours per week during the first semester to practice in the lab and do other various things. I did not know about this when I began and childcare became a nightmare.
