Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Wow....Thurs/Fri clinicals ?

Yea, there was a mix up with the Prof's schedule, instead of Wed/Thurs, she was given Thurs/Fri.

Just found out that my clinical group will be assigned to the med surg floor at Valley Hosp. :yeah: But first thing first, I have to pass the Pharm math test.

oh nice!!... we still have no clue what our schedule will be.. i'm really hoping i can get the 5:30pm on wed/thurs, that's the only one I signed up for. As for Pharm, did that on Monday.... not bad at all.. my major worry is our first test coming up on Tuesday.. we have Phys assess and basic skills the same night...:uhoh3:.. it's now 4am.. it's gonna be a looooong wknd

Alrighty, step 1 done - passed pham math test. Looking forward to first day of clinicals in 2 weeks but it might be postponed to 3 weeks from now.

How are the clinicals ?

How are the clinicals ?

Because of all of the snow days, we started clinicals last week ( day1 was orientation, day2 we met our patient). Then this week is spring break. So next week will be our first full 2 days of clinical. I hope I get a more student-friendly nurse. He wasn't too talkative, maybe it was because they had to use "indoor" and not "outdoor" voice. I felt like I was in the way. I like my prof instructor, Prof "O". I think I'm going to learn alot from her.

Assuming we are talking about the same Prof O (Osxxxxxxr)...yes, you will learn a lot from her. I did not have her until Level 4, and then she allowed us to try different responsibilities.....ie, Charge Nurse, Shadow a RN, Pt care, Administer all the meds.

I am looking to apply to the spring 2012 evening nursing program. But from what I hear it is very competitive. I would like to start studying now for the test what is the name of the test given in order to get into the prgram and how many times can you take it?

the Hesi A2 exam and only once.

anyone trying to get into the Fall nursing program? Just took my HESI today and hoping I scored high enough.

hi im montclair state university former student, i didnt like it there so i decided to leave the university. I always wanted to become a nurse since highschool but my dreams was put on hold since i attended MSU. Anyway, i was considering some schools who offer nursing programs, i came across Dover, L. Tech, and BCC... i think bergen was the best choice out of all. I been dong my research and i understand i missed the deadline for ths upcoming Fall Semester. I want to apply for the next term which is Fall 2012. my question is when apply to BCC can i apply as a Transfer Non-Degree and take some pre reqs and then apply to the nursing program?? Or do i have to wait until they are accepting applications for the nursing program? Also since i have a little over a year... should i start preparing for the HESI??? please help thanks :):heartbeat

You can become a BCC student and take pre-reqs while waiting to apply to the program for 2012. I've applied to the nursing profram for 2011 and take my hesi soon. Were the chem and bio sections hard/detailed?
