Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far!!! I know we have to get CPR certified and purchase malpractice insurance. All that information is in the packet we receive once we accept their invitation to the program but I just can't wait!!! lol Is it American Red Cross who certifies us?? I also want to know how much the insurance will be so I can prepare financially. I'm paying tuition/books/uniforms all cash so I really need to be financially ready!! Yay to all of us!!!!

HEY KAMI! I WAS READING THE NURSING PACKET THAT BERGEN HAS POSTED ON THE WEBSITE. THEY ONLY ALLOW CPR CERTIFICATION FROM THE AMERICAN RED CROSS OR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. SO FORGET ABOUT THE LINK TO THAT WEBSITE I POSTED; SORRY
I went to the site and checked it out too... I live in Englewood and looked for the CPR classes thru AHA and they don't have many that I can do before the deadline.. not sure how much it costs either... Going to check ARC to see... yeah.. the books I'm ordering thru Amazon because it's much cheaper than the school bookstore. I've tallied up the cost and it comes to around $440. I'm going to order them soon. Best to you and everyone else!!!

They told us as long as we have the CPR (and Vaccs) done by the start of clinicals all was well. Confirm and verify this, in the event things have changed.

Have to admit it's been a pretty good first semester and I can't believe it is almost over already!
Like you have already read here, don't stress too bad over your vaccinations, because they do give you until right before clinicals start.... so you have a little extra time,
just get your CPR out of the way and malpractice insurance out of the way so that's done..
It can get a little costly!! I spent $115 for a medical kit, 80 for the CPR certificate, $30 for malpractice insurance, $120 for uniforms, that's already over 300 right there... and don't forget your books!

I got the same email!!! I'm wondering what it means as well... i'm going to wait it out... I'll be at school shortly so I think I'm going up to the department to find out.
