Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!
Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.
Thanks!
i also think it is important to know the good and the bad. but i think it is a little cynical to "totally disagree" with a positive experience only to reinforce the negative, especially since there is already plenty of the latter on here.but this thread isn't about our differing opinions so let's get back on task.
please show me where i disagreed with a positive experience.
i am saying to take the good with the bad. a few pages back i also asked how was everyone doing...and once again...to share your experiences so that others can benefit. here is my post form oct 30:

where are the nursing students that started in the fall ? can we get an update and what's going on ? if you are having challenges...lets talk about it. if you are doing well...share what you are doing so others can benefit from it.
ps:
i had a ton of help when i started in this thread...a ton...from people here, profs and classmates in the program. just trying to give back, what was so graciously given to me. graduating in 29 days...(hopefully...hehehe)
and oh...reminder for those going on to level 3.....deadlines for the externship program is coming up. imo you should have your resumes in asap. last year, while interviewing i saw a huge stack of resumes on the recruiters desk and she explained that they were almost done with filling the externship positions with still hundreds of resumes left.
Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far!!! I know we have to get CPR certified and purchase malpractice insurance. All that information is in the packet we receive once we accept their invitation to the program but I just can't wait!!! lol Is it American Red Cross who certifies us?? I also want to know how much the insurance will be so I can prepare financially. I'm paying tuition/books/uniforms all cash so I really need to be financially ready!! Yay to all of us!!!!

Morning all,
If it's any consolation to both of you... the personal experiences and input is greatly appreciated.. I mean for someone who does not have any experience being in the program, I'll take all the opinions I can get, good AND bad. Yes every experience is different, but it's duly noted and when (if ) I ever get accepted to the program( This waiting game is very stressful) , but I digress.... I will go in not being totally surprised or blind-sighted, but already armed with information that will have me prepared and adjusted as such. So thank you DaddyO & Ukgirl for your insightful inputs... Happy Thanksgiving !!!
