Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Thanks MsfutureRN, good to know I'm not alone!!! I wish we could the books NOW tho, I would rather have everything I need in advance....I'm always 10 minutes early to everything ;-)

OK, I have kind of a silly question - what are we supposed to wear to orientation? Do we dress "up" or wear whatever?!

renting books? anyone recommend it? or will i need books in the future.

are international editions ok to use?

@livelove, I don't know anything about renting books...I didn't even know you could! I for one would rather own them for future reference and so I could mark on them. My books are highlighted and underlined and circled and you-name-it by the time I'm done. But I have some pretty major A.D.D. so I have to "interact" with the book in order to stay focused on it ;-) Sorry I can't be more help!

yeah i'm short !! like 5'2 and i wear a size 3... sooooooooo they better have something that's gonna fit me good. lol seriously...what will I do? They will just have to make a lot of adjustments for me..

about orientation, i guess wear whatever, there is no specific dress code or anything, just don't look a mess of course.

Yeah, would hate to make a bad first impression on the ones who will be grading us! I just HATE to dress up, so clearly this is something I was preoccupied with ;-)

hmm.. i have to dress up for work a lot. i work at a law firm so it's either dress pants and nice shirt or.... some people wear you know leggins with nice nice tops and shoes, you just can't wear jeans..

i don't know what i'm gonna wear to orientation.... i guess we should just look nice! lol put it that way..

Hey guys-

I haven't received my uniforms yet either- and I went before July 15- and let me tell you, the XS was big on me- and I'm not that small- I'm short but, I'm definitely not that thin- So I barely fit into that, and there was no other option- the woman totally laughed lol.

I got most of my books already- A whole lot of a them lol.

As for renting them, I don't think I'd recommend it, well, I remember hearing/seeing somewhere that we would need some of them for the future semesters... And I also saw that in the other syllabuses that are posted online already--

I'm not sure what I'll wear- honestly probably jeans and a t-shirt-- if it's really nice out, a sundress since I have 90059890385092890 of them it seems hahahahaa. - Obviously looking presentable, and not wearing pajamas, but I don't really think it's a formal thing-- It's orientation- I really can't see anything wrong with jeans-- I am not wearing shorts or a short skirt lol.... But I don't honestly think they will even remember all of us.... Almost 90 people will be there- I definitely won't remember 90 people- unless you have like bright green hair or something hahaha.

I'm so excited to meet everyone though!!!!!

I have always had to dress up for work until my current job and my ad agency is pretty casual. Ever since I gave my notice I have been VERY casual! Haha!! I guess I'll suck it up and get out of my pjs for that day ;-)

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone too! We should wear name tags with our AllNurses "screen name" on them: "Hi, I'm UKGirl7655, what's your name?" LOL!!

really? that's so aggravating...why do they run so big??

but they fit them for you right?? i know they take them up but can they fit them waste wise as well? now i absolutley know they'll be so big on me.

They didn't even measure me. BUT they (the pants) literally fit right over my capris and the length was just right also, so measurements weren't necessary. I'm not super tall but I am by no means short either, so the pant legs must run a little long. I bet they will fit you tho, I just happened to be lucky that they fit perfectly. They won't have you wearing pants that are 4 inches too long =)

I was THRILLED to be an "XS" I have to admit! Ha! I can only ever wear smalls in workout pants so it made my day! =)))))))

lucky you, lol... i'll be stuck there getting fitted for a while!

@kk101...i remember seeing somewhere to about the books but i cant seem to find where...

i kind of want to buy international editions. anyone whose far along the nursing program disagree otherwise? i kind of want to know if its different or if anyone has. i found a book thats 75 used at the bookstore but 47 new online, just the international version.
