Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

If you recieved funds from the school to purchase books, then the funds have to be used at the bookstore. How it works is you go to the bookstore @ BCC, and they take out the funds through your student id. Kinda like a debit card. If there's any financial aid remaining, you recieve the balance in the mail as a check sometime in November. Hope that helped!

did anyone buy books yet? or receive their ordered uniforms from Belle?

Im still saving up for books, and i have not received anything from Belle yet.

Let me know if you haven't either please, cause I am not sure if I was supposed to recieve em. I went in there in June and they said, two weeks, but then I called and said I would receive it before clinical.

Also, orientation august 19th? will you all be there?

Thanks Ashley Nicole -- that did help! =)

@ Livelove, I haven't gotten my books yet, I was going to buy them from Amazon but it looks like I will have to buy them at BCC with my student loan funds..boo. And no, I haven't gotten my uniforms yet either! I was there about 2-3 weeks ago and the shipment had arrived that day, they were going to be shipping the orders out "soon" but I don't know the details. I'll be at Orientation!!! With bells and whistles on! =)

You guyz have plenty of time for your Uniforms. Remember you have to pass the Pharm exam first which is like week 2 or 3 of the start of the semester. No clinicals until this is passed. I think my clinicals started the last week of Sept - early Oct.

thanks so much for the feed back.

also, is it worth renting books from the bookstore? it's much cheaper or do i want to keep my books for future references. do i need to keep books for later classes? im trying to save some money :)

and are internation editions ok?

yeah, I was a little scared. I didn't even get fitted for my uniforms yet, i'm going this thursday when I get paid.. lol

The only trouble I had with the unifroms was finding a parking spot!! Haha! But once I got in there I was in and out in like 10 minutes, they were very friendly too. I think I spent like $135-140. Got 2 pants, 2 tops and the long sleeve jacket thing. And was it just me or do the sizes run big?!?! I ended up getting xs pants and I have NEVER been xs in pants!! LOL!!! Lets hope I don't gain any weight or I'm in trouble!!!! ;-)

really? oh great, that's not good... i'm pettite!!! VERY.

That was what I was wondering about...cause I'm about 5'6" and typically wear between a 4 and 6 in pants (6s mostly!). I'm slender but I wouldn't even consider myself "skinny" and am defintely NOT petite!!! I was wondering how on earth someone that is legitimately an XS would wear these pants! AND, I tried them on OVER the pants I had on! Very strange.

by the way UK girl, i'm in the same boat you are.. i took out a loan and cannot buy my books until the funds come through..

Also: you have to sign a form before you can take out books, they usually e-mail it to you.. i just received mine about a week ago, the form also tells us that we can't buy books until a week before the symester begins and that we only have two weeks to buy them once the symester starts...

so one week before up until about two weeks after..

you HAVE to send them the form back via fax or mail BEFORE you can take books out... it's just a paper with your signature..

THEN AFTER you use some of the loan money that's left for books they will mail you the left over amount somewhere in the middle of the symester.

well, you don't absolutley HAVE to, you can send the form the same day you buy the books (I believe) but it will slow up the process greatly...
