Non-CNA Jobs You Can Work While You're a Student

Before I got accepted into nursing school, I went to school to become an MA. Currently I work in a hospital in the lab. I was interested in going to CNA route per diem once I move to PA for nursing school, but to get trained and certified costs a lot of money and I am focused to saving money for school/my own place right now. I won't have the time or money to do so. Where I live in NJ, they have PCAs that don't require experience or certifications...hopefully I can find a hospital that implements PCAs or PCTs. I've heard of some places taking current nursing students on as CNAs after they've finished med-surg...is that still true?

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

If you recieved funds from the school to purchase books, then the funds have to be used at the bookstore. How it works is you go to the bookstore @ BCC, and they take out the funds through your student id. Kinda like a debit card. If there's any financial aid remaining, you recieve the balance in the mail as a check sometime in November. Hope that helped!

Bergen Community College Evening Nursing program

I know you messaged me this question, but I'm fairly new to this site and don't know how to reply in a private message. For the BCC evening program, I believe you need to have CHM 100 and BIO 109 completed in order to apply. You can finish BIO 209 before Spring 2011. For more information; you can check out the current academic catalog here: http://bergen.edu/documents/academics/pdf/Catalog%202009-2010.pdf As far as the HESI goes, I don't know any practice tests off hand but I'm sure you can look around on the forums here or google some. For BCC's HESI exam, A&P will not be on the exam: only Biology, Chemistry, Math and English. I got the actual HESI practice book, but it's not really helpful. If you want to check it out just go to the school's library. Hope this helped!!

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Congrats to everyone that made it in for the Fall! Unfortunately, I won't be able to apply for the Spring '11 evening program because I had to drop Chemistry this summer. So I'll most likely be shooting for Fall '11. Anyways, I have an off topic question. What's the policy on tattoos? I know in most workplaces, if they are visible, they'd have to be covered up. But I have heard of places that are extremely strict on having visible tattoos at all. Does the program have some kind of handbook that explains the policy on this? Thanks!

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

I believe the change would be on your program evaluation. Click on that and it should say your new major where the old one used to be. Either that or check your profile on webadvisor and it should say. Right now, i'm living vicariously through you guys until I apply for the program! Lol once again, good luck!!

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Good luck to everyone that has taken the entrance exam for the Nursing Day program. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you!!! I'm going to be applying for the Nursing Evening program that starts next spring. Right now I'm just studying what I can for the HESI and finishing pre reqs. I'm nervous already and I haven't even applied yet!! Anyway, from what I've been hearing in prevous posts, you can find out if you got into the program a couple weeks before letters are sent by logging onto webadvisor and checking your program evaluation. Under you program of study, it will be changed to A.A.S Nursing Day.

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Yeah, i made the mistake of buying the HESI book. Haven't opened it since the first day i got it. Does anyone know how long does it take from the time you apply to the program to the time you have to take the test? I'm kind of torn between applying now and applying closer to the deadline (October 1st) because I'm not too sure on what to study and how long to study for.

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

so you really don't have to take the a&p portion of the HESI?? i really thought it was math, english, a&p, physics and chem portions we had to take. i'm not exactly sure, but it would be great to find out. i'm currently finishing up my pre reqs and will be applying in the fall for the Spring 2011 evening program.
