Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course! :eek:

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

IS anyone in section 3 besides me?!?! I feel like everyone picked the other 2 sections haha

Thanks. I think the day and night nursing is the same amount of time, but for the night you need all your non-nursing classes done before you apply (that's what I have been told atleast). I am taking chem in the summer so I hope chem will be fresh in my mind, and as far as A&P goes I am doing great there. I figured the night sessions would be easier but I just wanted to ask. How is the program so far for you?

i actually have not started it yet, all my gen eds are finished though. I took one year to do all my gen eds so i could just focus on nursing classes only. I'll let you know when the time comes

I'm in section 3 jimmygnecco :) Compared to the other sections, section 3 is filling up fast.

Has anyone on here utilized the Childcare at BCC? I'm looking into the drop in service for the days that the kids don't have school. If you have used it, were you happy and were the hours accomodating for the nursing program?

i cant wait to star myy claases!!! @sunny-h

@gbayck have you checked the bergen website? i have no kids so i cant really help you there :(

@rnhopeful1

my friend is rejecting his acceptance so hopefully you are next in line. good luck!

Is it just me, or did anyone else receive another letter stating the orientation is June 20th?? but yet the acceptance letter states June 10th?

There was a typo in the original letter. The orientation is June 20th.

hi mxdp95 , i am taking evening classes so i can answer some of your questions. the evening program takes the same amount of time as the daytime program: four semesters, two years. i'm not sure if it's actually "easier" since you're taking the exact same classes either way and the requirements are identical, but if you're getting all of your prereqs out of the way before beginning the program, it will obviously take a lot off your shoulders and allow you to focus on the nursing classes only. i can't imagine taking classes like microbiology while taking nursing classes!

i did hear it's a little less competitive to get into the evening program which is a good thing; however, there are still hundreds of people applying for 80 seats. but, if you work hard and do well on the hesi, you will have no issues getting into the program. someone mentioned studying chem and bio over the summer; i couldnt agree more :)

best of luck and let me know if you have any questions!!

rnhopeful..... my score on the hesi was 88.25 and I'm out of county. They give preference to bergen county students first and then out of county. Good luck!!!
