Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

Mom2009,

For the entrance test I recommend the McGraw Hill series.

As far as taking the classes in the order of the curriculum, I believe there is no option. For instance in 1st semester you have to take Nur181, 182 and 183 together. You can't take one and not the other. Hope this helps.

Good luck!

I am in level 1

Thanks for the info. SoulHealer! I still have a little ways to go to even get into the program... I just want to know if I will be able to have a spot for 2012 or not! Though I'll tell you this much, reading the threads is depressing, makes it seem like I should definitely have a plan B, C, D......Z, and that's what's making me nervous!

Hello!

I am unable to log into WebCT and I have called the help desk several times and they are trying to fix the problem. I am in section 3 and have no way of obtaining handouts for Pharm and Basic Concept and Skills. If possible, can someone email me the powerpoint/handouts?

It would be GREATLY appreciated!

My email is: [email protected]

So, how did the first week go?

Specializes in Patient Care Technician/ EMT.

Judging from the silence it must have been a tough shocking one...

I would say we can't quite tell yet. This coming week will be the first full week, then, we can assess the situation! :-) Good luck to us!

way too much reading and studying than im accustomed to

I did the evening program and I totally agree. I had Bado for Level 1. Her first exam covered something like 30 chapts. I worked FT during the day, so this made it tough to read all the chapts.

read what you can, but definitely concentrate more on the lecture notes. supplement this with the NCLEX 4000 questions.

Good Luck

Anyone have tips for those of us starting in January..what should we start reading 1st to get a head start? All suggestions welcomed!

Hi Pixiedust714,

Did you get accepted for January already?

Not yet, I was accepted for Fall but had to decline, I am confident i'll get accepted again for Spring admission.
