Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Last Thursday I was at the college for the purpose of collecting my Chemistry grade with some classmates. Apparently, there was a graduation ceremony for RN's going on that night as well, and my friends started talking to one student to ask her about the program. I didn't hear the entire conversation, but one of my cohorts told me the student had stated that ELEVEN people had failed out of NUR-181 alone during her course!

Now, there's always a chance there was some sort of misunderstanding or miscommunication, but does this sound right? For what it's worth, I would think the application process and competitiveness of getting in to the program would assure a strong student population, so it makes me nervous to hear these things. I already received some insight from someone privately, but I was wondering what the public population made of this info.

Thanks!

That's awesome! Good luck!

Are the NCLEX questions available in class through the instructor or part of the textbook or is that an added expense to buy NCLEX practice questions?

I did the evening program and I totally agree. I had Bado for Level 1. Her first exam covered something like 30 chapts. I worked FT during the day, so this made it tough to read all the chapts.

read what you can, but definitely concentrate more on the lecture notes. supplement this with the NCLEX 4000 questions.

Good Luck

check the computers in the Nursing Lab.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in months but thought I'd try & get your opinions if that's ok.... I just took Hesi for the evening 2012 program at BCC... 87.6%... Should I be hopeful or devestated?? LOL

if you're a Bergen County resident with a good GPA i'd say thats good and be hopeful..

Thanks for the quick response!! I am actually a Paramus resident, 3.5 GPA. I graduated high school in 1998, and returned this past January... This semester will complete all pre-reqs. I did great on math, english, etc. but not great on chem/bio. Judging by previous posts, I see I'm not alone. Despite all the study guides (I really did prepare as best I could) there were just so many random questions that I couldn't remember from senior year science class! So frustrating :(

Hi RP30! That's great! From what I've heard from other classmates, that's a great score. Wish you the best! Quick question, is it hard? I still have to take my test and I am super nervous!!

Hey Nancy, thank you & it wasn't super hard, just not exactly what I expected. I prepared like crazy but the science stuff threw me, it's not really fresh in my head anymore from high school LOL. It's just so nerve-wracking. On a normal test I'd feel good about an 88 but on this.... Who knows? I feel like unless you get a 95 it's impossible to feel confident. Torture.

Have you talked to a lot of people who have taken it? Heard a lot of 90+?

wow "a lot of 90+" , either the tests are getting easy or the applicants are getting smart...j/k.

I'm looking for a developmental Psych textbook Invitation to the life span - by Berger, if anyone has one to spare or sell. Don't matter if its the old edition.

I just sold that book at the end of summer semester :( Sorry... But I did take it online, had Prof. Wiater, got an A without opening it once. So if you are taking it online, something to think about... So in your opinion, 88% high enough?? I'm going crazy right now waiting.... aaahhhh

I also no longer have the book, however I did not use it either and I got an A in the class, professor went over chapters via PP taken from textbook, so to study for test all we needed were those PP handouts.
