So, I just got past my application with Bergen and have submitted to my background check. I know there is nothing there that is going to come up so I wanted to ask some questions about the test. Is it the NET test? For which ever test it is what is the best way to prepare for it.
If I get into the program I was wondering if anyone knew if my credits from a pervious college would transfer over or would i have to take the classes over. I have my math, psychology, sociology, and some other classes from a 4 year college I had gone to and left for the Bergen Nursing program because my previous school didn't have. If anyone has any sort of tis or anything I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Ashley
DaddyO: I'd like to know what was the cut off when the accuplacer was still used for admission? just trying to compare it with the HESI. You said earlier that your score was a bit higher than one of your friends who has a higher GPA but got denied. people said that you needed at least a 95% to even be considered with the accuplacer. was it true?

Not sure of the percentage. My four digit score was 96XX. I can't remember the last two digits...but I am certain the first two were "96" I know a lady friend that scored over 11000 i thought. My friend with the higher GPA scored 84XX.
I thought I tanked on the written part because the last 2min I just wrote anything down.
Another Bergen student who took the accuplacer. I scored 115xx, so a pretty high score I have been told. But honestly, your score doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are the top certain number. If they have 90spaces available, then the top 90 get in, so some years you might need a 95% and some years a 70% - you are only competing against those taking the exam that year. Good Luck!

Asp is on point. And some believe the new entrance exam is more challenging since it includes Biology and some other areas not on the previous Accuplacer.
But oh boy, getting in is not even half the battle.....Staying in is the real challenge. Can I get a witness ?
I'm looking forward to this challenge and I believe you DaddyO...I was nervous waiting to get in but now I'm really nervous with the program itself. I just got into the program but not at Bergen instead, I got in to Delta College here in CA. I'm still waiting for the results though I might still consider. But either way, it doesn't matter I already got in to one. I'm starting this Spring! Thanks guys for the encouragement! I like this website a lot. You learn a lot from real people who are so dedicated and showing a lot of enthusiasm in the nursing program.
Daddy-O I can't imagine how level 2 is. Level 1 is very challenging in itself the amount of work is so hard and trying to prioritize your time.U guys just did the switch right? How is that working for u?
Hey Idimarzio,
Were you the one that had MicroBio with Maria Q ? yes, we just did the switch from Cardio/Resp into GI/GU.
And yes Level 1, is just as challenging if not more than the others. Esp if one has had no medical / healthcare experience at all. Prof Baudo was my Prof in Level 1. Seems like one of her favorites quotes were, "Nurses are flexible...." LOLOL The scheduled changed often with our group. A great Prof. One of the best IMO. Nice during the lectures and a drill sargeant come validation time.
But the work load was really challenging for me between the 3 classes, validations and clinicals, Care plans and the list goes on. Seems like there was never enough time in the day.
but I keep telling myself even until today, that there were others with more challenging schedules and commitments that were able to make it thru....so I need to keep pushing myself as well.
Good Luck all...and keep your fingers crossed for me please......hehehe

Congrats on being accepted into the program at Delta. Fingers are still crossed for you at Bergen. Not sure where DElta College is in CA...but I understand CA has some of the highest salaries for Nurses.
And yes, this site and its people are the best ! I started here during my prereques and plan on continuing here throughout my quest to changing my career and becoming a nurse.
Oh...and I also applied to Rockland County Community College, PCCC and had intentions on applying to UMDNJ accelerated program, but made it in to BCC. Didn't want to rely just on one school.

You know, it took them 4 miserable months to send the freaking results!!! I gave up at the end and was just waiting for the letter saying I was denied. My best advice right now is don't obsess with it because they are looking at different criterias now therefore everyone has a chance regardless of your HESI grade, as long as you did your homework with the prereqs and maintained a good GPA you DO have a shot!!!
Believe in yourself and wait for the results and in the mean time CHILL!!!!!!
