So, I just got past my application with Bergen and have submitted to my background check. I know there is nothing there that is going to come up so I wanted to ask some questions about the test. Is it the NET test? For which ever test it is what is the best way to prepare for it.
If I get into the program I was wondering if anyone knew if my credits from a pervious college would transfer over or would i have to take the classes over. I have my math, psychology, sociology, and some other classes from a 4 year college I had gone to and left for the Bergen Nursing program because my previous school didn't have. If anyone has any sort of tis or anything I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Ashley
They seemed alright...I mean she did seem a little testy, but I like to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that their busy with first day of school stuff. haha but honestly, I could really care less about their personalities as long as they grade fairly. So I guess I'll have to wait to see how that happens...
Is it me or is the calender for Phys Assess and Basic Concepts sort of mixed up and confusing?
Yeah, I guess , It could be just the first day bs. I guess I was influenced when I read the reviews on rate my professor. ..and it's not just you ...I spoke to 2 others after class and they both agreed its a bit confusing...You want to hear confusing, I went to print out all the papers from the pharm site on webct and they printed in russian...My printer really messed up......Today , I'm doing all the pharm homework to get it out of the way. Tomorrow , Sun, & Mon is all reading...I think I need a new pair of eyes after all this....
I'm in the 001 Section.... I love my professor, they are tough but very good, down to earth and eager to help...
We had phy. assess. and we were supposed to have read chap 1-7 but nobody knew about it
the professor was amazing though, very knowlegdeable and involves the class throughout the whole class period...
the calander for 181 and 183 does go together....the lab validation from 181 will be done in the clinical conference class
Hi, AGAIN, before I started the nursing program I checked out the professors. I saw that the professors in section 001 got high marks on rate my professor, but I guess it's all about what you put into it. So no matter what the others have said, it all up to ourselves. We didn't have Pys assess. class yet, but the prof. stopped in and told us to make sure we read chap 4, 5, 6, 8, & 9 before our first class. The only thing we were told in orientation was to read the 6 fundamentals chapters...
Oh Gosh I forgot that she told us to read those chapters! So it's soooo many chapters to read!
Sometimes though rate my professors is misleading, you have to realize that some people don't do well because they are lazy and then choose to blame the teacher. So as you said, I think a lot of it is what you make of it. I'm hoping that I can catch up with all the reading this weekend so that I can focus on the classes properly...
how is the reading going guys? it is just me or is the reading overwheminglly hard. its not just the material that is a little foreign to me, but the amount is big and I get confused but reading things from 3 different classes. And because some of these thing were not discussed in class it kind of going right through the head lol
What kind of studying method do you use, I kid of need some ideas here, because it will take years for me to read and take notes at the same time for everything...
Hi..It's not you...the reading is intense, but they told us that in class. They said for the first few weeks it will be like this. Afterward, it will be about a chapter a week for PA..For myself I started with the easier stuff , the math in pharm, just to get it out of the way. Next onto the PA reading for a bit..it is not as boring as fundamental, so I do the PA book in the morning and evening. The fundamentals takes a lot on concentration, so I do it when I am total aware, with no distractions. I also have the prentice hall book reviews and rationals for fundamentals...It help a lot...I take notes , where needed and write down in the back of my notebook any words that I don't know with a line underneath , so later I write in the def. to memorize...1 more thing is when you have any free time, try and go over ( in your head ) the abbrev. for all the med terms..ie. q.i.d., OS, AU, aq, (and the conversion tables for pharm) . I have about 100 memorized . later on we should get study groups together ..I know I could use help + I have a stack of books that I have gotten from family that deal with nursing, care plans, math for nursing, review books, nclex q's, pocket guides, and I have downloaded a bunch of stuff to my pda ( med math, 5 min assessment , )...hope this help..you are not alone..we have to help ea. other.......back to the books..I might go outside and read just to get out of my room for a bit...later
Good to hear this from someone else
I knew it was going to be hard but not this intense, having 3 different classes with the same importance of studying is kind of making me stress a little, it is a first time experience for me....
I took micro this past summer and had an awesome study group, and I only did well because we helped each other... even though we are in difference section, we are studying the same material, if possible we should get together to study!
My name is Isabella, it is nice to meet you
Hi Isabella,
It is intense....The worst part for me is staying awake while reading the fundamentals book..TALK ABOUT A SLEEPER...no only is it boring, but it repeats itself...the 1 thing i find really annoying is when I'm reading a paragraph and it is referenced 6 x's by diff authors.....just let me read the paragraph w/o all the interruptions...as far as the study group is concerned, I see that you have been on this site a few times and have made some connections..lets try and get something together for next week or so, before the first test . Even if its just to meet in the library to blow off some steam...lol
We concentrated more on the handouts and referred to the book, the pointe...etc, whenever something was not quite clear. If my memory serves me correctly, the first exam for 183 covered something like 20 chapters according to the course outline. I am in the evening program and I had BAudo. With working full time....completing all the reading would have been a challenge.
I am not trying to suggest what to do here.....just letting you know what worked for us.

What did you think of ( i don't want to mention names ) the teacher for 181 and the teacher that stopped in to give out some papers, who teaches Phy ass. ( she was a bit %#*@ )
