Bellevue College 2016 Part-Time Program Hopeful

Published

Hello!

I'm applying to BC's part-time nursing program that starts spring quarter 2016. Is there anyone else applying as well? I thought I'd start a thread for those (like me) that would like to network and stay in touch throughout the process.

Bellevue , Washington ?

Yes, in Bellevue.

I applied for this! Now we just get to wait! So nerve wracking

Oh, good! I was wondering if anyone would respond to this that applied. And yes, very nerve wracking for sure...

I am hoping we find out earlier then December/January!

That would be great! I would even be happy with the first week in December. Late December or January just sounds so far out.

Did you apply anywhere else? Or just Bellevue?

I've only applied to Bellevue. I am the primary care provider to someone with a health condition, so the part-time program is the only option for me. I need the flexibility of having afternoon and evening classes. Otherwise, I would love to apply to a full-time program.

I believe Shoreline has a part-time program as well.

How about you?

I only applied to Bellevue as well. I didn't know Shoreline had a part time program, but I know that Tacoma does, but that is too far of a commute for me. I am a single parent and work full time, so the part time option is the only one I am able to do also. How did you feel about your TEAS? I am glad that is the main thing they base entrance on for our applying class. I understand it is changing right after us and it sounds much more complicated (but more like every other school)

Shoreline's part-time program application period opens up in January (I think). Tacoma would be too far, and Shorline is almost too far for me as well. I've went to Bellevue for all my prereqs and some other health programs, so it is difficult to think about going somewhere else.

I feel good about my TEAS, but I do wish that it wasn't their main determination factor. I know they are changing it, so I went ahead and turned in additional stuff (personal statement, letter of recommendation, etc.)

I think the part-time program has provided a wonderful opportunity for those (like us) who cannot attend morning classes. There seems to be such a need for more programs like this, I wonder if Bellevue will find away to run a new cohort each year in the future.

I'm sure finding enough teaching staff and space is a big factor, and also securing more clinical placements.

The new building is beautiful! When I dropped off my application paperwork I didn't want to leave. I wanted to take a tour, but I had my kiddos with me.

Have you had a chance to walk around the building?
