I have been so nervous about what all i would have to face in nursing school. The thing i dread the most is .... Math
I totally understand what you are saying. I had to take a compass math exam last month to even be admitted to the remedial courses in math. I needed a 20 and got a 19. Someone on this thread mentioned Khan Academy. I worked on that site almost exclusively (without using the other FOUR books I had bought) for 18 days and today I went back and took the compass math and got a 34. Not enough to put me straight into college algebra but I only have to take one remedial course (intermediate algebra) before the college course. I did not have algebra II in high school and it's been 25 years plus since i have had any math courses at all. Believe me, I am the biggest math phobic on the planet, and if I can do it...you CAN do it too!!! I have to admit the Khan site made it actually...dare I say it...fun? I really built my confidence up on that site. He has videos you can watch first to explain the concept and then practices for applying that particular concept. Keep us posted and never let fear or discouragement stand in your way. Best of luck to you!!!

could you audit a remedial math course this summer? many colleges and universities have four and six week mini
basic math courses in the summer. when you audit a course, you pay for it but don't have to take the tests or write any papers.
i have mostly used the math i learned in the fourth grade -- fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, etc.
plus the formulas i had to memorize. be sure to memorize them even if the machines and equipment are preprogrammed because they can stop working or the electricity can go off.
that's why there are learning centers, study groups, tutors, study buddies, etc.
the dosagehelp site is good so use it.
I worry about the same thing, but as other posters suggested already- study guides and books! There are so many you can find to help you with any math needed for nursing school. Don't stress too much; keeping a positive attitude is sometimes the only thing that keeps me on this crazy, stressful ride to nursing school. You can do it! : )
If you brush up on basic math skills, you will be fine. I am not great at math and it definitely is not my strong point. I am taking Statistics (a prereq) right now over the summer. The class is 5 weeks long and very fast paced but it is doable. You just have to practice practice practice. Know the formulas and get extra help if needed. Do practice problems in the text book and check your answers.
As for science, another subject I was terrible at in high school....
I am also taking A&P1 this summer along with statistics. I went into both of these classes thinking there was NO WAY I would be able to pass either of them. Especially because most people on this website talk about how hard nursing school is and how hard certain prereqs are. I have 2 weeks left and I am doing well in both classes. You can take peoples advice and listen to many of them talk about how hard nursing school was for them..... but in the end what is hard for one person can be easy for another. Don't worry so much about it. Just do what you have to do in order to practice and learn the material and you will be fine, I guarantee it!
