Being Ghosted by recruiters

I had an interview 2 weeks ago. It appeared to go well. The manager said she would send my information to HR. HR asked for 5 references 2 must be from supervisors. I got 4 references and 1 from a supervisor. I absolutely have no one else to ask. I sent HR an email ( there is no phone number) The email link for references stated to notify HR if I had any problems or questions with references. It was been 3 days. No response. I emailed manager, no response. The job I interviewed for still has my interview scheduled, it hasn't been updated that I am no longer considered for position. 
I am just frustrated that I feel like I have been ghosted.  It's okay if they don't want me. I am not offended. I get it. But why ghost someone? That isn't right. Now I am to the point if they do offer me the position I might turn it down out of spite. Luckily I don't financially need to work. My husband has a good job.

HR hiring is not as quick as you think.   Three days is not much time without a response -- weather, illness. sudden state inspection, vacation, etc could be reasons why no response.  Ghosting is no response after several weeks/months. 

So many times while I was hiring manager, could not get response back from references after multiple phone calls left/emails sent.   Couldn't hire unless TWO persons confirmed prior employment.  HR took on average 3 months to get person in the door.  Ran onto HR from my last PA employer at a job fair: told me HR for nurses was now done out of CALIFORNIA --  long term staff nurses complaining bitterly to  him ( now just responsible for therapy, aides, non-clinical staff) that no one responding to emails or voice mail left for CA HR since corporate reshuffling..

Give it a little more time.

What she said. Also, current uncertainty over federal spending is likely to slow business down, so be extra patient. Healthcare corporations get significant revenue from publicly funded "safety net" programs. My last job before retirement was at an LTC that was almost entirely funded by Medicaid and social security ... my guess would be somewhere between 80 and 90%. Spending cuts would hit hard. Pausing new hires helps control costs.

If it was a position in the Federal system it takes a lot of time. The hiring process is one step at a time not like civilian positions which are shot gunned to everyone involved in the hiring process at once. 

I work in a large hospital system and HR is constantly understaffed. It is definitely a strain on the system and I'm sure it has slowed down communication related to the hiring process.
