  1. The two jobs both gave such bad orientation and training that it was no wonder they had such a high turnover rate. They didn't have the staffing to train me or anyone for that matter and you asked 3 nurses the same question about how to do an admission you'd get 3 different answers. Several nurses were hired as Case mangers to drive to patients' homes but then were pulled to do hospice hospital admissions , and the entire admission process was different. Two girls left bc they said that's not was stated in their contract.
  2. how do I PM someone privately ? Not sure .
  3. The jobs I got fired from were at a psychiatric lock down unit. I received training from a 71 year old lady that had memory issues, and every time I did something wrong they wrote me up but it was bc the older lady didn't show me . The second job I was fired from trained me very well to do hospice admissions in the community. The company was short staffed so they asked that I do admissions in the hospital for inpatient hospice but it was entirely different. The company stated that they gave me over 6 weeks training but 3 weeks was in the office and three weeks was in the community. I was told that I should just work at a clinic or Dr's office where things aren't so complicated. I am looking for a nurse preceptor or mentor but have no idea of where to start bc I go online and there are literally thousands of ads for mentors. I am trying to get help!
  4. it took me three months to get a job . They take such a long time. don't give up .
  5. I was an LPN for 10 years doing home health part time to raise my children. I also worked at some LTC facilities. I received my RN two years ago and my BNS online . I have been fired from my only two positions as an RN. The orientation I received was a total joke and it was basically sink or swim. Everyone is either so short staffed or don't want to retain employees. Many places have such a high turnover rate. These were not positions at hospitals. I am currently working at a home health agency doing private duty just for something to put on my resume. I am looking for a private nursing mentor that can give me some insight as to what I am doing wrong or how I can improve on retaining positions, but finding one has been overwhelming.
  6. Age is just a number... I started as an LPN at 54 and soon realized that I'm doing the same job as many RNs and there many job restrictions from my LPN license . I received my RN at 59 and my BSN at 60
