I just passed the NCLEX!
Now, I'm looking for a job in either the Abilene or Dallas/Ft Worth area. Can anyone give me an idea of what I can expect to earn as a starting hourly salary?
I've heard figures from $20/Hr up to $30, but I don't know anyone currently working here well enough to ask them.
Thanks in advance!

My friend is making $19 in a Dallas Hospital and she said all new grads are at the same rate pretty much.
Any idea what the benefits are like (medical/dental, education, and transition costs)?

Around $20 as base pay ($19 - $21). Decent benefits.

I AM PRETTY SURE MOST NEW GRADS IN THE DALLAS AREA MAKE ABOUT $20 AN HOUR...BENEFITS ARE PRETTY STANDARD, MEDICAL DENTAL, 401K, ETC. NOW SOME HOSPITALS WILL HAVE SIGN ON BONUS' AND SOME DONT. I WOULD CHECK AROUND TO SEE WHAT'S OUT THERE.

As for Abilene, it's around $18.50/hr, plus $3/hr night shift and weekend diff. Benefits are ok, but cost of living is cheap! My husband and I were actually able to buy a pretty decent house for the same as renting a smaller apartment! (and that was while in school working as a tech!). I think there might be a sign-on bonus for night shifts. If you have anymore q's, PM me.

Hi there! If you guys ever want to play in Sunny California..c'mon over. San Francisco Bay Area is a great place to work with its wonderful all-year round almost like spring weather. Starting pay is around $37.00 to 39.00 (for 6 mo to a year, then a 3-5 % increasefor the next year, and so forth) + differentials that can run from 10-20%. Add the health and dental benefits to that + 40-48 days of educational leave with pay. The only draw back is that the cost of living is extremely high here. Salary ranges here in the greater San Francisco Bay Area is $38.00-53.00 / hr (base pay only). good luck job hunting...

Oh yeah, San Francisco and Southern California are great if you're young and don't care about buying a house, by all means come and work here.

Yes, that is great pay, but the cost of living is so high from what I understand.

You can buy a 2800 sq foot brick home in Texas for anywhere from 120k on up. That makes a mortgage pmt about 1100.00 a month :) Can't say that for CA!
There are tiny shacks in CA that cost more than a 3500 sq ft house in Plano, Texas (a swanky city).
And I used to complain about Dallas traffic. Until I sat in traffic for the Golden Gate bridge...
