Before the Morning (Failed CRNE three times. what now?)

World Canada CRNE

Published

I just received a bad news. My nursing career is over. Yes, I am no longer one of you, but I feel a need to share my story. I have failed the CRNE for the third time and honestly, I don't know what is there left for me. I know things happen for a reason. sometimes, i just think that GOD is being so unfair. Throughout my nursing school, all i did was to do my best both theory and clinical. I have received praises being a "very good" Graduate Nurse. But then again, all has to end with an examination that I can't seem to pass even though I have put my thoughts and heart on preparing for it. At some point, I think of myself as a dumb individual, up for no good. If nursing was not meant for me, why did HE made it possible for me to even complete my Degree Program? I have so many questions to GOD right now. I have prayed hard for that moment of finally receiving a letter with the word "PASS" on it, but instead a phone call saying I have failed on my third attempt and had to wait for a letter containing my options.

Nursing Has always been my dream and I can't see myself pursuing other career in life. I don't think I can handle another 4 years of schooling or even the strength to even try to put my life back on track. I know that God has a reason for why I'm going through this test right now (one I consider the hardest test in my life, so far), and probably there is more to come. I have so much faith in him that in spite it all, I still look forward to that one morning of waking up from my sleep and the pain, the sadness, the sufferings are over. I know that HE works in ways unimaginable. I know that he hears my prayer and in his own time he'll grant those prayers. But for now, all I needed is some sort of encouragement from you, whoever you are reading this post right now.

I still thank GOD because I have my life, I am breathing, I can still appreciate all the good things he had created. As long as there is tomorrow, I will continue to fight a good fight!

Hello Yahy,

I am so sad to hear your story..... GOD would not give us trials which we can not handle. I do believe that this are all trials to test our strength... I hope you'll be able to sort things out. Try to check New York, my agency told me that it does not require a BSN to be licensed in their state of origin. Check it out.

Goodluck! Be strong!

thank you for the prayers you guys! ofcourse, I won't give up just like that... and I'm looking to any possibility especially now that I have found out one doesn't necessarily has to have a License but a 4 year degree would beneeded to apply to some states. For whatever reason this is happening to me now, I know our God is a faithful God and he keeps his promises and and never tires of hearing our prayers... I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!

Dear Yahy;

I feel so much for you as I am also in the same boat. I am also new to this site. I think I have failed my second attempt at the CRNE done in June 03, 2010. Now, I am looking to the States if there is a place where I can take the NCLEX if I failed my 3 attempts. I need to know where I can do this? Can you write to me? Thanks.

baijaan, you can write the NCLEX but that doesn't mean you'll be able to work in the US. Unless you're a Canadian citizen you'll have a lot of dificulty obtaining permission to work there and the wait will be very long. You need to read some of the posts to the International forum such as:

Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn - Nursing for Nurses

US jobs for foreign nurses living in the US - Nursing for Nurses

waiting out retrogression - will this work?? - Nursing for Nurses

Thanks Janfrn. I really need some sort of encouragement here as to my options. I am a Canadian Permanent Resident. I have failed twice my CRNE. Is there any state in the US that will allow me to take the NCLEX? Currently I have provisional registration (temp registration) with CRNBC. Please come back.

baijaan, as a PR of Canada you will be affected by retrogression for the US and will have a wait of several years for a immigrant visa allowing you to work in the US. If you get your Canadian citizenship you will have the option of the NAFTA visa. I would suggest you check out the state you plan to work in and see what requirements they have regarding foreign trained nurse.

Strongly suggest a good read in the International forum

Hi Silverdragon. I hope to get my canadian citizenship in a year's time. Then I'll have the NAFTA option. I have no state preference and it does not matter where I go as long as I get to do the NCLEX and work as an RN. Can you tell me which state has a better chance of this? Thanks.

All I can suggest is check out some of the other forums especially the state forums. Many nurses in many states are struggling to find work

Hi Yahy

Unfortunately the reason i'm writing to you is because i too also just recenlty recieved news that i failed my last attempt. I am trying to figure out what to do next, and i am hoping that you have some insight that you can share. I was wondering if you are still able to write the exam in another province, becuase that is what i was told by a friend, but then i read on your blog something about not being able to write it in any other province? Also in the letter i received there was no indication of any followup letter with options! So i dont' know what is going on? I have had a tuff time in the last months, my grandfather passed away, i lost my grandmother too, and then further familial problems, i don't know what else could possibly go wrong. I hope to hear from you soon, and i hope all is better with you these days.

Also i was curious if i am still able to write the NCLEX and where into which state i am able to enter with this option.

Thank you so much!

Esperanza2000 can't PM you, yahy, she only has 1 post and must have 15 to PM.

Esperanza2000, please read the CRNE Frequently Asked Questions from the Canadian Nurses' Association: Canadian Nurses Association - FAQs. It states that "with few exceptions" candidates may only write 3 times anywhere.

To write the NCLEX you'll have to contact the state nearest where you live and have your educational preparation assessed then receive approval to test. But writing the NCLEX doesn't guarantee you a job in the US, or even permission to work in the US. Check out some of the threads in the International forum.

Yahy, I am confused. In this thread, you state you failed the CRNE 3 times and in this thread https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/75-questions-failed-489748.html, you state you failed the NCLEX 3 times. So, since March of this year, you were able to register for, take and then fail the NCLEX 3 times???
