Becoming a registered nurse (Applicant from Greece)

Published

My name is Hellen, I'm from Greece and I am 24 years old.

I've completed a 4 year course in Nursing, at The University of Lamia in Greece

I started my 6 month (undergraduate) practice at the University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis-Nothern Greece

After i got my Degree I was employed by the 'Vostanio' General Hospital of Mytilene in Lesvos Island - Greece for 8 months in pathological sector.

I have decided to immigrate to Canada and I would like to know how I can become a registered nurse in Canada in order to work there.

Any help and information will be valuable for me.

Specializes in Critical Care/Coronary Care Unit,.

Your questions would be better answered in the regional forum for Canadian nurses.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

If you go to the Canadian Forum there are stickies at the top you can read regarding working in Canada or do a search of the threads on allnurses, this topic has been covered many times.

Questions regarding immigration and licensing belong in the International Forum.I'm sure one of the moderators will move your thread shortly.

You would need to apply to the college of nurses in the province in which you want to work and follow their instructions. If granted permission you will write the CRNE, which you need to pass for licensure. Also you need to go to http://www.cic.gc.ca for visa/immigration information.Best of luck.

Specializes in RETIRED Cath Lab/Cardiology/Radiology.

Moved to Canadian Nurses forum.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Belongs in the International forum because the nurse is a IEN.

As mentioned there are many threads to read and starting point would be deciding where you plan on living in Canada, meet provincial requirements and decide what route you plan on taking to get a work permit or PR to live and work in the country. Be aware the cap for RN's has been met for this year and you will need a English exam both for the province (Academic for province) and general for Immigration
