BCTC Fall 2013 Applicants

Published

Hi all! Just wanted to see if there are any other BCTC applicants out there. I'm getting super anxious about hearing whether I got in or not, and didn't know if anyone else wanted to discuss our waiting time! Best of luck to everyone. ?

I'm #8 but thought my odds weren't great because Lawrenceburg only admits 40.

I'm sure many people have applied to other programs and may have been accepted there, and some may decline the invitation. Odds are you'll be better informed in the next two weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Did anyone get into Bctc Lawrenceburg that have decided on a different program? I'm an alternate and just wondering what my odds are.

I did and I'll be turning down my spot as soon as I get the paperwork since I'm going to EKU. I hope there's 7 others like me and you get a spot! :)

You guys are sweet! Thanks!!

Who is going to Cooper? I want to ask if you have any information about NSG101. Teacher recommendation? Books, etc?

Ooh, so excited to get that package in the mail! I am so pumped for next semester!!! Any ideas on our scrub colors? Where are clinicals are at? Best teachers to have??? :D

Yay I got accepted to Cooper. I am looking forward to meet everyone and making new nursing friends.

I'll have to ask some of my co-workers. Half of the nurses on my unit went to BCTC, so I'll see if they have any recommendations on instructors. From what I understand about clinicals, we'll probably be at all of the hospitals in Lexington. We probably won't find out about our scrubs until we get our acceptance letters and info packets.

Congrats on getting accepted!!!

With that in mind, who here has any idea of what we should be reading over summer break? Any ideas are definitely appreciated!

I looked on the schools self service and it looks like nsg 101 is a lab, clinical and lecture! But it's only 9 credit hours, so i think i have to take another class to still be full time. Lol im looking for an easy elective :) Cant wait to see you guys there this fall!! My plan for the summer--- relax and enjoy, because this fall is going to be intense!

If you need an easy elective and have your bio/english/psych/etc. done-take Keyboarding. Took it online and it was the easiest A I've ever earned :) You only have to go in to school once for the final to prove it was you.

Every nursing student I talked to told me to read things I like this summer because it might be the last chance I get until I graduate! I'd do that and maybe look through the basics of dosage calc. I took a course this semester and we used this great workbook:

Calculation of Drug Dosages: A Work Text, 9e: Sheila J. Ogden RN MSN, Linda Fluharty RN MSN: 9780323077538: Amazon.com: Books

It's really really helpful and goes through all of the basics to begin with. IDK how BCTC is, but at EKU we will have to take a dosage calc test at orientation and before every semester so it can't hurt to practice :)
