BCIT January 2018 Intake

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

Hey catandions, you are so sure you will be short listed. Hnnn very nice. I am not even sure that I will be short listed or not.

Stay confident! I was short-listed last year, it was a shock since I didn't have an amazing application compared to some people. Unfortunately I didn't score well in the questionnaire but I'm hoping I'm more prepared this time!

This wait is killing me though! But we got this!

I got shortlisted last time. After that I retook some courses to boost my grades, finished libs and gained more volunteer experience. If these things don't help, I don't know what else will.

Do you mind sharing your prereq GPA, experience and previous education?

You can find that in my previous posts.

You can find that in my previous posts.

I was looking and actually couldn't find any posts about what you applied with! Im curious as well :)

Sorry. I thought you could. I got English B+, psy B+, bio 1&2 A-,A+, Chem 1&2 A+, A+, cal A+, stat A+. I also have done some other UT courses. With those extra courses, my total UT credits are 44 and my overall GPA is 3.66 but that of the prerequisites should be higher.

I volunteer at three facilities and I have submitted two volunteer referenc letters. In the letters, I have over 250 hours volunteering at care center and 30 hours in hospital.

I also have around 90 credits from my post secondary education and have libs done.

Just wondering, is it a requirement to give references along with our application or not?

No it's not. I called the BCIT admissions and asked them about references, they said at this stage of application they don't have time to review references. And filling your questionnaires form is more then enough.

Ohh okay. I did email them too few months back but I wasn't sure if we really have to submit them so I had to ask. Thanks @sona2nurse

@kasx0 hey! that's awesome! would you be able to provide me with the email of the person that you contacted? and what did you request in the email that you sent them? they sounded super helpful, and hopefully be able to provide me with info as well!

Well, we should be hearing back by the end of this week.:chicken:
