BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

Same!

Did admissions provide that the information regarding rejection emails?

I keep wanting to call and inquire on my application but realize that waiting is a part of the process and they are going as quickly as they can. Also, I'm not sure the extent of information they can provide on the phone or if we would be redirected to email.

Good luck everyone!

No I found out from my friend. She didn't get in :(

Her grades are so good too, so makes me extra nervous

What was her overall gpa if you dont mind?

If waiting to be shortlisted is already this nerve wracking, imagine the process after the questionnaire waiting for the actual acceptance

I've been through the rejection before of an application - it's hard news but it drove me get more experience, take more courses and to gain better perspective of healthcare. I hope she tries again!

I'm not quite sure but she almost got straight A's. However I asked her about credits and she only has 24, so maybe that's why?

Let's just all hope for the best :)

Apparently rejection emails are being sent out... so nervous!

Good luck everyone

Do you mind sharing what you applied with? Also, is this your first time applying?

Are any of you applying to a back-up school? I just realized the September 2019 intake at Langara opened a few days ago.. considering applying there if it doesn't work out at BCIT :/
