Just wanted to get something started as I will be applying for this intake. Let's get this thread going. Fill me in on who you are and why you are applying bcit's nursing program.
I was told that BCIT is the most recognized institution of all nursing schools in BC. There clinical hours which I like and it's a 3 year program. It is also the most competitive, therefore the brightest, smartest, and well rounded individuals will be there. I want to be associated with a competitive environment, makes me work harder and we can learn from each other.
I am currently at kwantlen completing my pre reqs. I have completed my 1st year english and 1st year psych. I will be taking libs 7001 and 7002, 200 level psych course and 2 other bio courses.
My problem is that my phone tells me when I receive an email.... So, it makes no sense to keep checking, however, I keep checking! Does anyone know about the CPR requirement? Like, the healthcare specification (I am recalling from the email that had general information), do community centers regularly offer such things? I have CPR-C, but it has expired recently, so I want to make sure I update the correct certification. Thanks :)
I should mention I'm a first aid instructor. I was thinking about asking my employer if they would let me run a CPR-HCP exclusively for the people in the program (maybe for a little cheaper or whatnot). This would probably be conditional on getting a seat mind you, as otherwise uni can be pretty time-consuming for me. I'll get back to everyone if people are interested.
