Just wanted to get something started as I will be applying for this intake. Let's get this thread going. Fill me in on who you are and why you are applying bcit's nursing program.
I was told that BCIT is the most recognized institution of all nursing schools in BC. There clinical hours which I like and it's a 3 year program. It is also the most competitive, therefore the brightest, smartest, and well rounded individuals will be there. I want to be associated with a competitive environment, makes me work harder and we can learn from each other.
I am currently at kwantlen completing my pre reqs. I have completed my 1st year english and 1st year psych. I will be taking libs 7001 and 7002, 200 level psych course and 2 other bio courses.
Hey everyone! I'm thinking about applying for August 2014 intake and I am currently working to finish my BSc at UBC first. I have already taken the majority of the post secondary prerequisites such as the physio and anatomy components. However, my marks for my 3rd year physio course (PHYL301) is not very good, around a C+. Do you think it is worth retaking the course? It's a year long course and fairly expensive for me
Thank you for your help in advance guys!
Hi,
I promised myself that when I was accepted I would help future applicants.. so feel free to ask me questions.. i would prefer if you wrote in the august 2013 forum though. Your resume should include your work and volunteer history, education, objective etc. If you have never made one... I guess I would go to your university' s help center. They usually have students there who assist you ( especially UBC). From what I understand the new entrance requirements state that you need to have over 65% in anatomy and phys. so if you have that I wouldnt bother re taking it. Bumblebee, in the past they asked for those letters if you were shortlisted.. they will tell you at the end of October.. its usually a cut from around 750 applicants to 176. However, for the intake that i was accepted into they sent me a questionnairre when I was shortlisted so none of these things were required. Hope this helps.
Hey Lego House/Dobby
You're extra-curricular activities are pretty good. 45 credits is also really good. I applied (and was shortlisted) with over 60 credits and an associates degree in business but my average for all of that must have been really around 2.20. These are courses from the last 10 years or so. BUT, the GPA of the required courses in the new Matrix was around 82%. So you're looking pretty good I'd say. It really depends on how you ended up with the required courses in my opinion. I've been looking at the forum chronologically backwards so you may have already been short-listed. I hope so! I'm a Kelowna resident as well so hopefully we can represent.
Good luck!
