Baylor Scott and White Residency Summer 2021

Updated:   Published

Making this thread for anyone who applied to the residency program that opened today. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you all for that update. I have been applying in the Houston area as well and got an offer for 28.50. That is low there. I am waiting for Baylor (Chi St Luke) to get back with me. There starting is 30 I heard. I just feel Texas has the same cost of living so why is there such a gap. We will see what happens.

Medical City should be ashamed they are taking advantage of new nurses. A fellow new grad told me it’s 500 for the orientation a week. Then your 26 an hour.

I got an email with the dates and times for interview around 2 weeks prior to the actual date. They’re only doing interviews via Microsoft Teams. I would allot 30 minutes but so far the max interview time was 15 minutes. For each unit you interview with, it’s the unit manger & supervisor. I mainly got behavioral questions. I only got nonbehavioral questions from one unit & it was easy prioritization questions. I interviewed on a Thursday and received an offer within 24 hours.

I'm glad they allow you to pick a time. And ugh behavioral questions. How long do you have to decide?

Do you mind me asking where you heard back from in Houston?

I heard back from HCA. Applied with them in beginning of Feb. they get back with you rather fast. They are the same company for medical city. No different pay during orientation though. Very odd

So HCA is paying the same low amount as medical city?!

HCA is the parent company of Medical City

HCA in Houston pays 28.50, differential $4 night $1weekend. Hca or Medical City here in DFW is only paying 26.00. If people will accept it there not going to offer more. HCA is profit based not patient care centered.

Does anyone know what the night differential is for Baylor Scott and White?

I just got an offer for some med surge floors but I'm waiting to hear back from the other residencies especially in Houston. But it seems like most places are already sending out offers so if I didn't get contacted for an interview yet for any of them do yall think it's safe to assume it's not worth it?!

Also between Round Rock and Lakeway - does anyone whose had experience there have a preference for a facility?

I work at round rock 3rd floor. It's a med-surg/IMC floor. Also doubles as a covid overflow unit. The people there are great! It's super stressful, but you have a supportive team. Manager and educator are awesome.

Awesome that’s actually one of the units I got an offer for! That’s encouraging :) also the 4th floor there not sure if you know much about that one?

Congrats! It's a great place to do you residency. Great preceptors too. I've been on fourth floor a couple of times. The people there are sweet. I would definitely say it's much less intense than 3rd floor. Much less workload and time to chill.
