Baylor Hospital

U.S.A. Texas

I was just wondering how the interview process went at Baylor. I applied for a few of the GN positions and went to the career fair this past weekend (10/11/08), but haven't heard anything back. I know it has only been a few days since, but I am nervous! Has anyone had contact within the past couple days? I might be over analyzing the situation, I tend to do that, but any information from anyone else is appreciated!

Thanks!

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

I went to the Baylor fair, too. I will be graduating in Dec. I went to the OR and ER tables. They called me on Tuesday morning to schedule an interview for the ER and on Wednesday and Thursday to schedule interviews for the OR.

I don't know of anyone who went to the L&D or ICU tables, but I'll ask around school and see if anyone's heard anything.

Good luck!

I graduate in May '09 and plan to apply for the ob internship at Parkland. I called the recruiting office and they said that applications wouldn't be available until February. Can anyone tell me about their interview process and how long it takes for them to call with a job offer?

The interview this semester was a group interview. They brought in everyone that they wanted to interview on a Saturday and each of us was interviewed by a different manager. They called with an offer within a week.

Thank you for replying to my post. I wish you well. :nuke:

nursemama12 are you going to do the L&D internship at JPS? I have accepted a position there for the L&D intership starting in January and I cannot wait to start! I am so excited!

Yes! :yeah: I will be there in Jan as well! I am thrilled. The unit is really nice (in comparison with Parkland). It looks like we will be in class together!

What school do you go to? I am at TWU in Dallas.

I agree the unit is much nicer than Parkland. I went to school at NCTC in Gainesville, Tx. I actually graduated in 2006 and have worked in LTC and adult critical care. I am so excited to be switching to L&D since this is what I went to school for in the first place.

That is great that you already have experience! What hospital are you working at? This is my first job out of nursing school and I am really excited. I actually changed careers into nursing because I wanted to be a L&D nurse. I am a labor doula, a childbirth educator, and a La Leche League leader. I kept doing just a little bit more and it really snowballed into going back to school to be a nurse! I know that JPS will have tons of amazing opportunities for learning.

I'm not working at this time. I took time off to pursue my dream of being a L&D nurse and it paid off! I'm so excited!!!!

It sure did! I honestly don't think that there is a better hospital in the DFW area for learning about L&D. At Parkland you would have to fight with the med students to do procedures!

My name is Lea btw :). I am looking forward to meeting you this January!

My name is Nicole and I am also looking forward to meeting you this January!

I work at JPS as an extern in L&D right now, and I can honestly say it has been the best hands on experience that I could ask for. It is VERY busy, so be prepared to work HARD, however, you will learn ALOT! I have worked there for almost a year, and I love it there. However, be aware that it is a different type of population, and more days than not you see the ugly and sad side of L&D. If you are judgemental then JPS is not the place for you, however, if you believe that all patients desearve the best care no matter what their life choics are, then you will have an awesome experience. Great nurses, great doctors, great experience.
