Hey, anybody applying for Baylor's FastBacc program for 2012? I'm applying there as well as Brookhaven (to start Spring 2012)... I'm optimistic about Brookhaven but not as much about Baylor! For Baylor, my prereq GPA is 3.23 with a 3.5 in the sciences... cumulative HESI score of 90.64. Is there anybody who has turned in an application or is planning on it soon? I'm wondering about their application timeline too (i.e. when admission decisions will go out).

Hi...I have applied to the May 2012 program too! Got an email saying they wld send out decision letters by end of Nov, early Dec. My prereq GPA is 3.8, sciences 4.0 and HESI 94. Baylor is the only one I applied to, so I am really hoping for a positive outcome! Good luck to us!

I think you've got a good shot!! I remember them saying in the info session that the waitlist started around 3.6 overall GPA, and mine is about 0.05 lower than that. I didn't see the email about when the decisions would go out, but I think people on campus told me similar dates. Good luck to you :)

Hello, All!

I've applied to the May 2012 FastBacc program as well! It seems like the both of are great candidates; can't complain with a 3.8 GPA and a HESI score of a 90.64! My overall GPA was a 3.73 and my overall science GPA was a 4.0 with a cumulative HESI score of an 86 (Math, Grammar, Vocab, Reading, A&p, and Chemistry). I also received an email stating that we should be notified late November/early December. As a matter of fact, my counselor (Erin Mulvey- such an awesome lady!) said that letters should be sent out early next week! I'm so nervous I may not get accepted because I had to apply and take the HESI under such short notice and I'm afraid I make a high enough score. :(

Anyway, good luck and I'm so excited I found you guys here. I've finally found some people who can relate! Have any of you looked into TCU's accelerated program?

See, my situation is kind of the opposite - my adviser was pretty impressed with my HESI score, but my GPA is lower than most that get accepted to the program. I didn't get this email about when letters would go out, so that has me worried a little bit!

I also looked into TCU's accelerated BSN, but even Baylor is really out of my price range... from what I understand, TCU's is even more expensive! It's a shame really, because they get to wear those cute purple scrubs :lol2: (Just kidding of course, I'm obviously not basing my decision on that) I did apply to an ADN program and was accepted there, and it would be more realistic to go there even if I do get accepted at Baylor. I still have some student loans from my first degree, and taking out the cost of attendance for a year at Baylor PLUS living expenses for that year, since working isn't really an option during the program, would put me in a rough spot financially.

Hi,I also applied to Baylor. May I ask what this email that was sent out saying you will have a response by end of november early december? I talked to Erin Mulvey and she said that nothing has been sent.

I didn't get any email saying when letters would go out either. I did ask my advisor though, since people on here mentioned it, and she said there was no email notification but they anticipate letters going out this week.

Yes, that's correct. She had sent me an email to confirm all of the application items that I had and didn't have for submission, and at the bottom she mentioned that all of the items had to be submitted by midnight on November 1st as the committee was set to meet on November 3rd to make the final desisions. She also mentioned that notification letters would be sent out within the next couple of weeks and that depending on the flow of the postal service traffic, we should be have letters by late Novemeber/ early December.

Either she was giving out false information, the committee got tied up at last minute, or simply none of us got accepted, but something's gotta give.

:( I hope the latter is not true for any of us and that we all get acceptance letters! We've already busted our backs getting our first degree, so hopefully we can catch a break this time around.

Are either of you considering UTA or TWU? I am if Baylor fails, but I'm worried about the whole out-of-state-tuition-for-second-degree-holders thing. If I'm going to have to pay more than double the original price anyway, why waste my time in school when I can get the whole two years completed within one (Baylor)! This system blows!

Ha ha, excuse my babbling. This is only my second post and I already feel like I'm getting too carried away!

Ok shew...wow that made me nervous seeing that some people were getting an email telling them they would get letters and I hadnt recieved it. But I got the checklist for requirements from Erin too, guess im a little on edge right now from the waiting.I hope that we all get in too. They said they are sending letters out this week so I hope everyone will have a lot to celebrate over thanksgiving. I have also applied to Texas A&M, OU, UT, and TCU. But Baylor is my first choice since it is 12 months and the others are 15 months and TCU is alomost 20K more than Baylor even. I know Texas Tech has a 12 month program as well but I didnt have enough time to take Patho before admission deadline. Feel free to babble Im sure we are all getting restless waiting. Helps knowing Im not the only one.

Ok yes I got that email as well. I'm sure the committee just got tied up! Also, I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say you're worried about tuition after having a second degree, the tuition is the same isn't it? I actually got my hours "re-evaluated" at DCCCD so I am eligible for more aid... just federal loans but still, it helped me big time. The only other school I applied to is Brookhaven and I was accepted there, so there's a chance I'll go there even if I do get accepted to Baylor.

My adviser at UTA said that they changed the law to were students who have taken over 150 credit hours in one state funded school will have to pay out of state tuition for every credit after that or for their second degree taken at another state funded school. In addition to that, she said we would most likely not qualify for financial aid grants and more likely to qualify for financial loans.

I was shocked to hear that too, and I still have some doubt in the truth of her information. I don't know if she meant just at a university or if she was including credit hours taken at a community college. Whatever the case, I didn't want to take a chance and decided to prioritize with Baylor.

Congratulations, I think Brookhaven is a great option too! The tuition is so much more manageable. When does their program start?

Financetohealth- "Restless" explains the feeling exactly. I've been checking my GoBaylor account like crazy and still nothing. Let me know if you hear anything! I'm wishing for good news for the both of us.

I never looked into Texas Tech's program. Is it all online? If so, I'm not sure I'd be able to hang with that, ha ha. I can get kinda lazy with self-paced courses.

Thanks!! That program starts in January. I'm doubtful about getting into Baylor so right now that's my plan. My fingers are crossed for everybody! That financial aid info from UTA sounds iffy. I've talked to the people at the financial aid office at Brookhaven a LOT since it is a little bit different for second-degree students, but I haven't heard anything about the out of state tuition rule. I'd check with the financial aid office - they will have a better idea of what exactly the law is. It's true that you probably won't qualify for grants, only loans (which is what's keeping me away from more expensive schools like TCU).
