I am applying for the fastbacc program starting in May 2011 and curious if anyone has already gone through it. I don't see any threads about this program so I thought I would start one. I have an interview in 2 weeks and really nervous! Ive read the threads on nursing school interviews and am working on preparing but has anyone interviewed with Baylor specifically? What have your scores been for those that have been accepted? Do you know if it is a highly competitive program? I can get so much info about all the other Texas programs but this one doesnt seem to get much attention. Any info would be helpful!
Thanks!!!

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd reply anyway - I haven't been through it but I am hoping to apply for May 2012! What was your experience like? Can you tell me how confident you felt about getting in? Any pearls of wisdom you have would be greatly appreciated!
Hi sugarmagnolia,
I was accepted into the May 2011 class and will be starting this may. I am SOOOO excited!!! With Baylor, I have had a great experience right from the beginning. I interviewed in Sept/Oct ( I cant remember which month) and found out the decision in late December.
I felt pretty confident since I had good grades, however I was lacking in experience. I did do a CNA program which might ahve helped but that is about all the experience I had in the medical field.
I also did very well on the HESI exam.
Congratulations! Would you mind sharing your GPA and HESI score? Also, I didn't know they took experience into account! I am considering applying to the May 2012 class, but after hearing just how intense the Fastbacc program is, I may try for the Spring 2012 traditional class.
I'm not sure if they take experience into account or not. I obviously don't have any so it must not be that big a deal. As for my scores - I got a cum score of 87 on the hesi. I did real well in all but Science. That is what brought my score down. I took the test before most of my science prereqs. I believe my GPA at application was about a 3.6. Although the program is going to be intense, I look at it as one intense year rather than 2. Nursing school is intense regardless of the program you go into and ABSN programs are more intense than the regular route but people do it, graduate and take the NCLEX and pass... To me, thats what matters. Dont let people psyche you out of believing you can't do it. Remember, its one year.... How fast do years go by n your life? Because in mine they are over before I even realize it...

Anyone apply to this program this year? what are your thoughts about the program? I understand from their website they don't have a segue from the fastbacc to the MSN portion---how easy is it to go from the fastbacc to the MSN program at baylor if I my end desire is to become a NP and would like to go straight through? Anyone know? Thoughts? Thanks!

Hi luvlimandee,
I am going to be in the FastBacc 2011 program, as well. I was on the wait-list and recently got off. I was wondering if you were living in the apartments near by or are you doing the partnership housing or commuting from home if you live near by?
For those of you who have another Bachelor's degree - were you able to work out a good amount of financial aid (for traditional or Fastbacc)? That is really the only thing that's keeping me from really wanting to go to Baylor... I'm a little worried that I wouldn't be able to get any aid other than student loans and I'd wind up $80k+ in debt when I graduated!

luvlimandee, Congrats on being accepted!! When exactly did you apply to the program? You said you interviewed in Sep/Oct, but the app deadline isn't until Nov. Did you apply early? Also, did you have all your prereqs done by the time you interviewed?
I applied for the May 2012 start and I'm still working on my two religion courses. I was also planning to retake a couple of courses to improve my GPA.
How intense was the interview?
