  1. ?confused? I simply used the uname shown. I made no reference to male or female.
  2. sorry you had to go through that ladypat, but as these ladies have said your time will come and it will then be the right time. It's just meant for some of us to experience this rejection. It makes us stronger and more appreciative I think. So, be strong and stay positive.
  3. The deadline for the Fastbacc program is November 1st
  4. I would go for the ADN at the community college first, if money is a bigger issue. Don't worry about not finding work without a BSN; I have tons of friends that didn't have a problem. Also, most employers have a tuition reimbursement program, so you could be looking at little to no cost to get your BSN later.
  5. financetohealth have you submitted your application? have you completed all of the prereqs? i'm applying for spring 2012 fastbacc as well. i'm somewhat hopeful, but my gpa is nowhere near yours. i hope you are accepted.
  6. I applied to the Baylor Fastbacc 2012. My GPA is not very competitive, so I'm hoping I'm one of the exceptions. Did you apply to the traditional Spring 2012? If so, when will you know if you were accepted?
  7. Don't focus so much on the amount of time it will take to accomplish your dream. You will have plenty of time to work and pay bills. So focus more on knocking out those prereqs and also consider working towards your BSN instead. I was just like you once, rushing into life....I even changed my major and did something different that would take less time to accomplish...but look at me now...changing careers to do what I wanted to do all along. Good Luck!
  8. I am applying to TCU and Baylor nursing programs so that I can learn nursing from a religion-centered approach. The schools are pricey, so be prepared.
  9. luvlimandee, Congrats on being accepted!! When exactly did you apply to the program? You said you interviewed in Sep/Oct, but the app deadline isn't until Nov. Did you apply early? Also, did you have all your prereqs done by the time you interviewed? I applied for the May 2012 start and I'm still working on my two religion courses. I was also planning to retake a couple of courses to improve my GPA. How intense was the interview?
  10. I applied to Baylor Fastbacc as well. Yes, I have Patho and Pharm left for UTA and 2 religion courses for Baylor. I do work, but I've been cramming courses in since Jan 2011. I took 4 science classes in the Spring and I'm taking Micro at UTA now.
  11. tejas03, I have a question for you. I'm applying to 2 ABSN programs and I need 2 more classes for each program. How would you choose which to focus on? It seems that my chances of getting in UTA are slim to none (but there is still a chance since I did apply). My chances of getting into the other program is a little higher due to the number of applicants. So, I'm leaning towards the program with the higher odds. I also have the option of taking all 4 classes this Fall, but will be overloaded....thus the reason to choose. What would you do? I would be crushed if I by chance was accepted into the AP BSN but lacked those last 2 prerequisites!!!
  12. Is it just that simple? Get a job with a partnered hospital and you are immediately allowed to apply. Isn't there some type of waiting period or time on the job?
  13. Your words are very much appreciated and very encouraging. God does have a plan for us all. I tell myself this each day.
  14. I am working to get into the ABSN program at Baylor. Since Baylor is sooooo expensive, I will have to take out personal educational loans to cover most of my education. I used up about half of my allowed Federal Aid loan with my first bachelor's. I have exceeded my 136 (or whatever) hours allowed for satisfactory academic progress; however the rule changes if you are working toward a subsequent degree.
  15. By the time I complete the ABSN program to which I am applying, I will be 40 (that is if I get accepted for the 2012 start). Althought I've read many threads on changing careers to nursing and older people going into nursing, I'm still a little apprehesive about the amount of time I will have to actually practice nursing. I've met older nurses that see as youthful as some of the younger nurses, but I've also experienced the opposite first hand. My mom is 58 and has been a nurse for 36 years, but her health is failing as a result of wear and tear on her body from many years of nursing. Will that happen to me? I would like to hear from some older nurses who recently got in nursing (or anyone who has an opinion on the matter). What helped you to be comfortable with your decision? What advice could you offer me? Also, do any of you have small children? How did they influence your decision to become a nurse?
