Bassett Medical Center Interview

Hey all, I am a new grad BSN May 2012. Finally have an interview coming up in 2 weeks at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown (upstate). I have a friend that works there already and loves it up there. Anybody else been hired there? Ow was the process? And the interview with the nurse managers? Any advice?

I'm just getting started volunteering at the hospital, but I have a neighbor who also works at that same hospital and she told me started out volunteering there before she was offered a job. They usually say you're not guaranteed employment, but I believe that if you put in a lot of effort as a volunteer, it could lead to some employment opportunities.

Any calls yet? Hope you found something. It can be stressful. Look into school nursing through agencies or home nursing. Sucks but gotta pay bills.

I already have a per diem job through an agency until I get something full-time, which hopefully is soon :)

I just did my in-person interview yesterday. I interviewed in medical and surgical unit, it was roughly 2 hours long. The nurse managers were so nice and friendly. I think I did well but I was so nervous at the start. Lol

They just called me today and they were asking about my references. Is this a good sign? I don't wanna assume though but I'm really hoping to get this job.

Hi, I have my in-person interview on August 1st at Bassett. I was wondering if you could give me some advice/types of questions they asked during your interview?! I get so, so nervous and I end up freaking out and doing awfully!!! Any advice is appreciated!!!

I was going over the old posting for BMC and found this forum. Are you working in BMC now? recently I had a phone and a face to face interview @ BMC. they called me to let me know that i am considered for the position at medical unit. Since they are checking my references, I didn't receive the offer letter yet. if you are working in BMC, can give me any suggestions about finding a room/ apt near the BMC? Does BMC provide residency allowance for them who are moving to Cooperstown?

my name is Rasha Madani. I had a face to face interview on October 1st 2013 at bassett medical center and they called me for references on October 3rd. After that I didn't hear anything from them? Did you get the job at bassett medical center? If they don't consider me then will they at least let me know through email? I am really looking forward to your reply.

Hi, Bassett medical center called me for the references after my face to face interview and its been 2 weeks seince then. I did not get any reply yet even though Bassett Medical Center called my reference's. Was this the same case for you? Looking forward to your post. would really appreciate your response.

They will send you an email saying if you got the job or not. It may take a while to hear back from them. I got the job but fortunately I got an offer from one of the rehab facility in Long Island. I wish you goodluck and keep us posted on your application.

Hi Rasha and whoever else interviewed with medical and surgical,

what were your interviews like? What was the unit like? What do you think they were looking for in a new grad? What kind of questions were you asked? Did you do a peer interview? Was there a difference in the type of questions that the nurse manager or director asked to what the peers asked? What do you think worked for you?

But after that they sent me an email about waiting list. They it me in waiting list. The manager for medicine unit is *********** who asked me three ques? Tell me about urself ? Why did u choose Bassett? If u have a chance to go back to ur country in Bangladesh to contribute as a nurse, will u go ?

Hi I had an interview three weeks ago and I got the position in Surgical Unit( one of dream place). I am starting on December 9th. I had interview with nurse educator and two floor nurse.

the educator ask me:

Tell me about yourself?

Tell me how you deal with stress and conflict on the job

and what you know about this hospital?

the floor nurses asked me:

How do handle a difficult patient? and how do you interact with doctors?.

they are very nice and professional.
