Bassett Medical Center Interview

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey all, I am a new grad BSN May 2012. Finally have an interview coming up in 2 weeks at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown (upstate). I have a friend that works there already and loves it up there. Anybody else been hired there? Ow was the process? And the interview with the nurse managers? Any advice?

I have a phone interview on Monday with bassett medical center. It's my 2nd interview since I got my license last January it's pretty depressing though.[/quote']

Yeah, it feels awful :( if anything, see if you can volunteer at a hospital in your community and network with the nurses there.

I've read your other posts, so how's you volunteer experience? Is it really worth it? I'm on the process to volunteer at NUMC here in Long Island.

I'm just getting started volunteering at the hospital, but I have a neighbor who also works at that same hospital and she told me started out volunteering there before she was offered a job. They usually say you're not guaranteed employment, but I believe that if you put in a lot of effort as a volunteer, it could lead to some employment opportunities.

Do you still remember what questions they asked you about your phone interview? I'm so nervous right now and I'm doing research about the hospital. Hopefully I'll make a good impression on Monday. So you haven't got any call yet?

She asked me why I was interested in the hospital and the area itself because they get a lot of ppl from out of town who apply for jobs there, so do some research on the hospital and the town first. I was also asked about my goals (where do I see myself in a few years) and the most challenging patient I had.

Thank you so much for your advice, I really appreciate it. (:

You're welcome! One more thing, if they hire you, they prefer to have you work there for at least two years because they've had issues with ppl leaving after a year, so they're gonna ask you how long do you plan on staying with them.

Congrats on the 2nd interview! I didn't get a call back, but it looks like something's gonna work out here in NYC.

Thank you so much! You really such a great help. I'm just so lucky that they called me back. I'll be having my interview on July 23rd, so I still got time to prepare. Lol

How's your volunteer experience going?

It's going good! The nurse manager on the unit said she will try to get me a job, so hopefully that works out :)

@SherLucky...I just had my phone interview and it sounded like it went well. She told me I might get a phone call in a couple of weeks to come in...just wanted to know how long it took you to hear back from them?

Right after my phone interview they invited me in for an in person interview.
