Published

Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! :o How are you all faring?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.

Join our Facebook group! Barry crna class of 2019!

Hey! How does the webinar thing work? Will I receive a email to join in?

you have to sign up through their website. It says they will contact you with login info the day before.

Anyone know if it will be available for viewing after it takes place? I have to work on Tues, so I won't be able to join at the scheduled time.

Not sure. I'm sure people from here will happily give you the details though.

PM me your email address. I tried to reply to your message, but it won't let me.

so for those who attended the webinar, was there any new info? like why it's taking so long for them to send out invitations for interviews?

They're busy dealing with graduation. They said they intend to have interviews every month until August, with at least 2 more for sure happening. It's probably won't happen until after May 15th though. They've accepted 40 studentsalready and they're accepting 70 total. They said very rarely does an accepted student not get their requested site. Worst case scenario they get their second request.

average stats of last years class:3.38 GPA, 320+ GRE(they said they're OKAY with 150+ in each section though and last year was just had abnormally high scores), about 3 years ICU. She also said emphasis is placed on last 60 GPA. CCRN is also the most important and impressive cert you can have.

thanks for that info. My buddy in the program told me the same thing about them being busy with graduation. And knowing there are a lot of spots available gives me hope.

Thanks all,

It was my bad, I was attempting to join class of 2017 (starting date) instead of class of 2019.

I placed another request for joining for Barry 2019. Please check it one more time,,

Thanks

Tampa is awesome! I graduate May 2017. I love this program. Major benefit of being in Tampa is the expanding clinical sites, and the fact that dr. D is on site to lecture and you get to bond with him and ask questions/complain to him about things. He is the Patho/Chem/Pham professor. He's a great listener and will advocate for you. The other campuses have faculty as well, but Tampa in the first year, you want dr. D on your side. Plus, he's teaching 90% of your classes! haha

Since you are in Tampa could you explain the clinical rotation more in depth? I understand there are sites in Sarasota, Tampa, and in Brooksville. What percentage of clinical take place at each site and does the student have any influence on that? For instance I have family in Sarasota so it would be awesome to do a lot of clinicals there (wishful thinking I know).

Congrats to everyone who got in. I just finished my first sem at Barry. I used to read these forums a lot and they were helpful for me. I know someones gonna ask lol, I had 2 years CCU exp, CCRN, 309 English, 314 Math, 3.6 gpa. As far as clinical locations, my thoughts are that Orlando, which is where I am, is the best. We are the only one with our own anesthesia machine and lab dummy on campus, so we're able to practice our machine check and intubations whenever we want. Tampa and Ocala students have to drive to Orlando for that and for checkoffs. Ocala students have had to meet for class in Orlando 3-4 times a week all semester. Also in orlando, we have ORMC, which is one of the biggest hospitals in the country, a trauma center, and we get lots of OB experience. And all our clinicals are through orlando health. Other sites all have clinicals through multiple hospital systems and have to drive further. We are set up with everything locally. One difference is that in Orlando we get unpaired from our CRNAs sooner, so they expect us to advance and be very knowledgeable early. I prefer that. I want as much experience as possible before I graduate. Hopefully that's helpful for someone. I'll try to answer any questions anyone has.
