Amazing work! 🤩
I just sent out my yearly reminder to staff that food sharing is prohibited amongst students and food-based celebrations are to be discouraged per our Wellness Policy (but if insisted upon by a family, the food needs to come off of a specific, district-approved list and cross checked by the building nurse for allergens).
Thankfully, our district is cracking down hard on policy violations this year, so I think the looming threat of it getting back to the superintendent may just keep everyone in line this year!
Had a kiddo in this morning with a sore throat so bad he was tearful. Just started here at school. I grabbed my penlight and headed to get a tongue depressor just to take a peek. Well his eyes got really big and he took a step back and said, "I think it is feeling much better and I think I should go to class!"
Saving lives one tongue depressor at a time!

Yesterday, my co-nurse and I administered epi to a kid having a reaction to nuts. Where does a kid with a known nut allergy get a hold of nuts? Glad you asked. He ate a cookie that "some kid gave me because it was their birthday"...sigh. Anywho, in honor of Old Dude, I wanted to let you all know that another kid was snatched from the jaws of death by a school nurse!
