Is anyone not satisfied with choosing Baker in CT for there nursing degree? If so... why and where did you end up going?
I would appreciate any feedback
Thanks
you may want to talk to a counselor at mcc about how they do it or maybe go straight to oakland. i want to try to do as much at mcc because it is a lot cheaper than a university.
bachelor's & master's degree options
"at macomb, you can earn your bachelor's or master's degree in any of nearly 50 fields at the macomb university center (uc) located on center campus. the uc is the first of its kind - anywhere - and each semester, more than 5,000 students work toward degrees offered by michigan's leading colleges and universities. and you don't have to be an alumni of macomb to take advantage of this wonderful option, right here in macomb county.
oakland university and macomb community college are welcoming students into the state's first concurrent enrollment program. named macomb 2 oakland (m2o), the program is the centerpiece of a partnership between the two higher education institutions to bring more meaningful degree-program options directly to the residents of macomb county.
we also offered a multitude of transfer plans to assist you in accomplishing your goal of completing an advanced degree. if you're interested in completing your advanced degree online, we have agreements with franklin university in ohio, walsh college, and the university of michigan - dearborn.
for more information about completing your bachelor's or master's degree, please talk with a counselor or academic advisor".

So basically after I get my associates and (hopefully) pass the test and become and RN I can choose to go to MCC for my bachelors? I know I'm running before walking but I like to be prepared. I don't want to finish at Baker and find out later that I can't go to another college or university to pursue a BSN.
I think this is just one more example of Baker advisors giving, yet again, bad information. I asked the Director of Nursing about this in November and she said that there were no plans in the future (meaning the next couple of years) for a bachelor program. Perhaps this is at another campus besides Clinton Twp.?
We were told Thursday at our orientation (Flint), by the Director of Nursing program, that they will have the BSN program up and running by fall. If I understand it correctly it is mainly online.
Why do the advisors give out this type of information, if they are wrong so often. It boggles my mind.Maybe this was a recent development. Did the get the NLN accreditation they were seeking?
you can check for yourself on the nln website..go to both links - the one for the accredited schools and the one for candidate status (the new applicant schools that have applied for accreditation and are candidates for accreditation waiting for a final decision).

when i talked with sandy, nursing director in flint baker, she said that baker is paying for only one school campus at a time - 1st clinton twp, 2nd owosso, 3rd flint. it takes many months to get accredited for each school.
My sister is taking Comp 1 this term. She said that the material isn't the same as when I took the class in Summer 2007. Ours was all about Literature.
Anyway, I found the first week overwhelming, but it is like "eating an elephant". Just focus on what you have to accomplish each week. I found that the most helpful.

I *think* they offer some type of BSN at MCC after you get your RN license, but it is one that you start there and then have to transfer to Oakland University or another school. I do not think you can go 100% there for it.
