  4. Evangelical Homes did NOT train CNAs when I worked there. Anyplace that is a Medicaid - Medicare licensed facility MUST have CNAs licensed by the State of Michigan. I do not know ANY facilities that are licensed by the State of Michigan to provide CNA training that qualifies as sufficient training for the person to be licensed as a CNA by the State of Michigan. Beaumont trains people with a "type" of CNA training - but it is an INTERNAL training program that trains CNAs and the person CAN'T take the State of Michigan CNA licensing exam.

  6. In case anyone is interested the following Nursing Homes-Extended Care Facilities are hiring NURSES and CNAs and for the extended care facilities NON-CNA staff. 7. hospitals and nursing homes and extended lt care facilities hire people for "sitter" jobs. call them and ask. you may want to move this to michigan so anyone who knows of openings in michigan can help you. when i applied at hospitals - such as dmc - they specifically were hiring for sitters. it depends on the economy and if the hospital or facility has a lot of medicaid patients they can't afford the cost. for a hospital to pay $10-$12 for someone to only sit by a bed and cater one on one to a patient is VERY expensive. sometimes they hire for them...but usually they use the cna staff they have and have them sit when needed. you can go online to henry ford, dmc, st johns, st joseph mercy, beaumont, u of m and look for sitter postings in their hospitals. you can call nursing home, and extended care places also.
  8. i started at a school that did not require entrance exams. but they made us take the teas after starting and told us NOT to study because they wanted us to see where we stood in our ability when we first entered the program... so my scores range from 60.0 to 92.5 in the 4 categories with a total score combined of 78.8....not good enough for entry into competitive programs now that i left that program and i am applying to other programs... i also took the hesi when i applied at another school, but did not have time to study and still got a 94%... some schools require the teas and some the hesi and some the net exams... can i take the teas, net, hesi as many times as i need to at different schools until i get into a school? please support your answer with a fact link to the site where you received your info. if you reply with personal opinion please tell us who gave you that info so hopefully it can be relied upon or confirmed... thanks!
  9. i am looking at attending ivy tech in fort wayne... do they give a quality education? i would like to hear from ft wayne ivy tech grads who passed the nclex and are working... do you feel you know all you need to know to be a quality nurse? i saw the nclex scores posted online but i would like to know how the training translates on the hospital floor working with patients... what did they not give you? thanks!
  10. you can check for yourself on the nln website..go to both links - the one for the accredited schools and the one for candidate status (the new applicant schools that have applied for accreditation and are candidates for accreditation waiting for a final decision). http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directory_search.htm http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/candidacy.asp when i talked with sandy, nursing director in flint baker, she said that baker is paying for only one school campus at a time - 1st clinton twp, 2nd owosso, 3rd flint. it takes many months to get accredited for each school.
  11. The problem is I have NO serious work history in healthcare, and I only worked as a secretary and self employed insurance sales agent since 2000 in short term jobs. My resume does not show any stable work history. Everything else you mentioned I already know. Any suggestions for resumes that do not have stable work history? Thanks.
