Bad things happen...

Published

i keep reading these posts about nurses getting treated unfairly, getting fired, licensed revoke, unfairly accused of things... why? how come nurses are treated so badly sometimes... arent't we angels ? many nurses that i know have been working for a long time, they've been through a lot... all starting with school.... test after test, paying for everything, finding time to study and be with their family ya know try to have a life, then they have the nclex studying for that... the anxiety of passing, maybe failing. then we have to find a job, pay back all that money we owe from school, still find time to be with the family we love so much, possibly deal with a stressful job, bad hours, and then there is the fear of losing a license that we've worked so hard to get...

mean people suck!

well, to all the nurses out there... no matter what anyone says, no matter what anyone tries to do to you... remember you are an angel and there are people out there that need you.

THANK YOU! I think i'm sick of that phrase more than the nurse eating young one.

Well, thank everyone for their positive views. I see that there are a lot of wonderful, talented, and well spoken nurses here. I am new, but already I feel that I have learned a great deal, not only about nursing, but the profession itself. By nature, I am an emotional person. My smiles and my tears are always close to the surface, thus it hurts me when others hurt. Not just patients, but family, friends, co-workers, even those that I do not know... Like many of you. Every day I read your stories, your triumphs and your sorrows. And every day I see hope and despair.

When I see that a nurse has been "chewed out" for asking a "simple" question. Well don't we ask questions to learn? And if you DON'T know something, shouldn't you ask. That's being a professional.

When I see a nurse's license being revoked for minor errors.

Well mistakes DO happen. Does his/her experience or education mean nothing? Can these errors be corrected through class or further instruction? MUST a nurse be stripped of his/her livelyhood, wait in agony over a decision, suffer...?

When we ARE such hard workers... think of all we do and MORE we: work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness. We are advocates and health educators to patients, families, and communities. We do so much for our patients, we observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress in patients; assist physicians during surgeries, treatments, and examinations; administer medications; and assist in the patient's well being... Thus we should be respected and appreciated, not put down or abused. We are NEEDED.

Some do not agree that we are ANGELS, but I think that we are... WHY? Because it is said that angels can be the fiercest of warriors or the swiftest of rescuers. Doesn't that describe you? Don't you FIGHT for your patients? Don't you help to rescue them from their illness, assist with their spirituality if needed, or in some cases... save them from themselves? This is just my opinion and why I think so many of you ARE angels.

Yes I think that mean people suck. Simply because... well THEY DO. Just remember that next time someone makes you feel upset, angry, or sad. Don't let it get to you or ruin your day. Because the bottom line is... you're better than that...

You are a NURSE, I don't know about you... but to me, that has MEANING.

LOVE YA ALL
