Members are discussing their scores on Hurst Q Reviews in preparation for the NCLEX exam. Some are feeling discouraged by lower scores, while others are sharing their experiences of passing the NCLEX with scores below the expected median. There is also a discussion on the similarity of Hurst questions to the real NCLEX exam and the importance of reading and understanding rationales.
Calm down.
Hurst do not say you should get 84/125. That is the median score of of people who pass the nclex. A median number is the number in the middle of a range, so there are a number of people who scored more than 84 and an number that are below 84. I do not know their upper and lower limits but basically people scored from 70 - 100 and passed nclex.
Just keep going over the rationales. You still have 5 Hurst q reviews to practice on.
Good luck.

The questions I got were similar to Hurst. Hurst had a few unexpected ones like where the answer was popcorn for a high fiber food. That is not wrong but I did not expect such out there stuff. Hurst did teach me to really match the answers with the question. Eg. What intervention would you do if patient has Hep A. Options were A) Wear gloves when handling blood and body fluids B) Wear gloves when removing the patients bedpan C) Wear gown and mask D) Make sure patients door is closed at all times.
I mean you are always going to wear gloves when handling blood/body fluids as well as when picking up a bedpan. The answer is wearing gloves with the bed pan b/c Hep A is transmitted via fecal Oral even though you really also want to say gloves with blood. Always pick the answer that relates to the question. Hurst got me thinking that way.
My Scores were as follows: 63/125, 73/125, 81/125, 69/125, 79/125, 78/125
I passed the NCLEX-RN with 75 questions on my first try. Don't feel discouraged. I feel that the "mean score" they expect you to hit (84/125) is ridiculously over-estimated. Read the rationales, understand why you got the question wrong, and keep reviewing. I feel that if you hit above 60%, you should be fine.

I just took my first q review from Hurst. It was 125 questions and they say you should be getting a 84/125. My score was a 62/125. I'm upset and discouraged! I plan on review I all the rationale but I take my NCLEX very soon.
