Bachelor of science degree in obstetrics

Published

Hello every one:

I have my Bachelor of science degree in Obstetrics from university out of USA, my transcript has been evaluated in here and they give me a equivalent of US bachelor of science degree in obstetrics as awarded by a regionally accredited university in the United States. I am really interesting to get my BSN here, I am working on some prerequisite courses, but need advice from you. Do i need to start over all courses again? Is there any pat for me rather than this? I am 41 years old with 2 kids and living in TEXAS. Please please help me if you know any thing that should help me to reach my goal. Do you think I need to get my second Bachelor or go for ADS. Please somebody help me, i am very confused!

If you have a bachelor's already, you should not have to repeat most of your pre-reqs, they should transfer fine. Only way to know for sure is to contact any schools you are interested in applying to and meet with them to evaluate your transcripts.

I'm confused (not an unusual phenomenon). I have never heard of a BS in Obstetrics. Was this a nursing curriculum? Did it lead to a nursing license/registration?

PP is correct, you need to have your transcript evaluated to see which courses may transfer. Please be aware that a US nursing curriculum includes content that reflects US culture, so this may preclude the transfer of some courses. An alternative would be to try to obtain credit for courses via a CLEP test. How to Register for a CLEP Exam | CLEP If you pass the test, you receive credit. There is usually a limit to how many CLEPs you can apply to a specific degree - you'll need to find out from the school in which you are interested.

Transfer to a master program in nursing ( I assume you are going into nursing vs physician program). You will have to challenge them but it can work if you have the grades. No need to get a US bachelor. Also explain what is meant by ADS.
