Azusa Pacifica (APU) ELM Fall 2020

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm starting this thread for applicants that have submitted/are in the process of submitting their application for Fall 2020. I'm hoping we can all get together and discuss our experiences with the whole application and potential interview process ?

I'm currently in the process of finishing up my application and am extremely nervous about hitting that Submit button once it's finished. I don't have the best overall undergrad GPA, but was able to redeem myself a bit with my pre-reqs GPA. I am hoping that my personal essay and references will help increase my chances of being accepted *fingers crossed*.

The deadline is in exactly a month and I would like to say good luck to everyone!

I know APU was conducting their in-person interviews for the 2021 cohorts the first week of March. I am not sure what’s going on now or if the current situation would have an impact on timeline of their decisions. I was wondering the same thing. I’ve been told the decisions about Spring 2021 applicants would come around the end of April/May, after the admission committee meets. I am not sure what’s going on at this point...not sure if anybody here would have some new information..

Hi guys,

For the writing sample of the interview. When you mean summarize, like a paragraph or like a page?

Hi puglover! You can probably do it in one paragraph or an essay style. I don’t think they give you specific instructions as far as how long the summary should be. I did intro, a few paragraphs and a conclusion.

Awesome thank you!

Also, do you know how many questions (approx) they will ask you?

Hi congratulations! The interview was pretty relaxed just asked basic questions like why did you choose APU and why nursing. They go over any missing prerequisites and the writing sample was reading an article then they want a summary of the article as well as what the article was saying. An example I can give is the article I read was about a nursing student who was having a hard time and was so stressed almost gave up but then she talked with her advisor and found that everyone has skills in different areas and don’t give up. It was pretty obvious. I wish you luck! You’ll do fine.

Hi is anyone willing to share their stats/application. I planning to apply but I'm not sure if I'm a competetive applicant. Please let me know. Thank you!

I would just apply. They take all sorts of different people for different reasons. It’s not all about grades. I’ll let you know my stats though. I had 4.0 in all the sciences with an average of 3.8. I have 4 years of military service and several years experience in hospital procedural area. I have been accepted to the Spring 2021 cohort. But I still think you should apply you never know what they are looking for and you should apply at several different places to give yourself as much opportunity as possible. Good luck!

Hey spincraxy76!

Congratulations on your acceptance! Did they already send out acceptance letters for Spring 2021 cohort ? I haven’t heard anything at all. I’ve been told it would be sometime in May..

No I was an applicant for Fall 2020 but they put me in the Spring 2021.

Hi everyone!

Has anyone else been accepted into the Summer 2021 cohort at Main Campus/Azusa? I just received my decision yesterday, looking forward to connecting with you all.

I applied for Spring, but was placed in the Summer cohort. Not sure about SD but Main Campus told us decisions wouldn’t be coming out be coming out until May, but I’ve read several people have already received their acceptance letters upon checking the portal. Wishing you the best of luck.
