Azusa Pacific University Summer 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi! I just turned in my application for the APU ELM summer 2014 cycle. I don't think my stats are very good, so I'm a little worried. I have a 3.2 GPA from UCSD as a human bio major, 3.6 pre-req GPA, EMT for 1 year, and president of a volunteer organization. If anyone has similar stats and got in, it'd make me feel a lot better about my chances =)

I was able to attend the interview on site at the Monrovia location since I live in LA. I guess time will tell what version was the correct one. In the meantime I am trying to stay focused on putting together my other applications.

As for the San Diego campus, I am pretty sure we will be hearing back end of August...I hope. I emailed the Program Coordinator at the SD campus and was told that over 30 students were interviewed for that location. I also asked about the other campuses, but she only had data for SD, sorry Azusa and IE applicants! 20 students are admitted into each campus and I am guessing roughly the same students were interviewed at the other campuses? I hope we all get in though....good luck! We have a few more weeks of waiting it out! :banghead:

Those are actually pretty good odds of getting in! Didn't know they interviewed about 30 students and 20 got in.. Thanks for letting me know!

Wow over 30? That does make me feel a little better lol

Man I can't wait to hear back!! This is my number one choice so I'm REALLY REALLY hoping I get into the SD campus!!! I'd rather hear in late August then in sept lol but I was told in September decisions will be sent out for SD campus. Good luck to all of you!! :D

For the Monrovia location, over 50 applicants received interviews. The average gpa ranges from 3.5-4.0. Their meeting to make final decisions will be on August 21st, and you will hear back from them within 2 weeks of that (September 4).

Dave5673: what other schools are you applying to if you don't mind sharing?

@ phieud is 3.5-4.0 the average undergrad or the pre-requisites gpa?

@ Melly6212 I am also applying to Western University of health science, Samuel Meritt. Also I am applying to ADN programs such as Pasadena city college, and the Los Angeles County school of nursing. I am pondering applying to out of state schools as well. I know competition is fierce so I try to diversify and keep my options open in case things wouldn't happen as expected. I am not old but I am not getting any younger so I need to get started asap. What other schools are you applying to?

On another note I noticed we haven't heard from anyone applying to the San Bernardino location on this thread

@dave5673 I'm also applying to the same schools as well! I applied for Samuel Merritt summer 2014 as well same time I applied to Azusa but haven't heard anything back. Azusa is my #1 choice.

But good luck to everyone! I was wondering if I recently just got employed as a homecare aid should I inform Azusa so they know and can add this to my file or do you guys think it's too late? Anything to up my chances of getting in

@dave5673 I'm not sure. I emailed them and asked what their average cumulative and pre-req gpa was and that was the response I got. I'm assuming that is the pre-req gpa because they're usually a little higher.

@hchumbar I definitely do not think it will hurt your chances! Though I don't know how much it will help since you don't have very many hours. You can contact Lindsey and she will put it in your file:

[email protected] I would think you would need to send her some kind of proof of employment also.

Dave5673: that's awesome! Good luck with each one!! :D I applied to national university's ABSN program, and I'm also planning on applying to Cal State San Marcos ABSN. Azusa is my number one chocie as it has my ideal program :)

I'm on the same boat as you I'm not getting any younger and I want to start with my career already lol.

Is anyone's outcome to become an NP? That is mine and I was just a little curious. :)

Hchumbar: I definitely think you should inform them! It shows your efforts and interest in the field! It won't hurt at all to inform them so I say go for it. You never know if it might help!! :D

Hey Melly, thanks I am going to email them today, true it won't hurt. My plan is to also become a NP! However, I hope my age doesn't work against me since I just freshly graduated from college.
