Azusa Pacific University Summer 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi! I just turned in my application for the APU ELM summer 2014 cycle. I don't think my stats are very good, so I'm a little worried. I have a 3.2 GPA from UCSD as a human bio major, 3.6 pre-req GPA, EMT for 1 year, and president of a volunteer organization. If anyone has similar stats and got in, it'd make me feel a lot better about my chances =)

@Melly6212 My ultimate goal is to become an NP, so I guess we're in the same boat! :)

@ phieud Thank you. I am pretty sure it the pre-requisite average because most of our overall stats wouldn't fall within that range.

@ Melly6212 Me too my ultimate goal is to be a NP, I would love to get a DNP afterwards. Nonetheless I would be already extatic being accepted into this program. One step at time! :)

Hi guys, I know a lot of us are anxiously waiting for the results! But I was wondering whether anyone knew what the differences were between the different campuses? All I know is that Azusa is the main campus and there are additional ones in San Diego and San Bernadino I believe. Are there maybe better clinicals in one location as opposed to another?

Hey, I don't believe there are any significant differences between each campuses as they are all CCNE accredited. The main difference I would say lies in the area literally speaking. San Bernardino is a somehow deprived/unsafe area and I guess this fact might reflect in the clinical rotations experience.

@dave5673 I heard you have to attend church if you attend the Azusa main campus and I am not a Christian so I wanted to confirm this information.. Does anyone know if this is true? That is the campus I applied for

It is a christian based school, but graduates are not required to attend. However there is a class called Christian Formation for Holistic Care that everyone does have to take in the 3rd semester.

Ok thank you for the information! ^*

Ok thank you for this information !

Azusa being an Evangelical school was also a concern of mine. I respect every consciousness and spirituality but I'm not too much into "drinking the kool aid" mainly when the objective to get a rigorous scientific training. According to what I have read and heard the "preaching" is more present during undergrad

@dave5673 that's also good to hear.. I'm not very religious but I do respect others' beliefs and hope the atmosphere will be inviting to both types of students

Hello all,

I had advising session with the advisor at Monrovia last month. I don't think it went well. I first wrote the essay. Then I went upstairs to have the interview. I felt there was no chemistry between me and the advisor. We spent most of time discussing what I need to do to make up my low science GPA (all A's or A- except a C in micro and C- organic chem). I was not given the tour afterward either. Did anyone who had similar experience actually get in? Do you think admission consider other aspects of applicants (graduate GPAs, work experiences)? How much influence do you think the advisor has in making admission decisions? Thanks!

I had a phone interview and Im confused as to how it went because she said I had a good GPA but didn't ask me any questions .. Just explained about the school and financial aid.
