Hi! I just turned in my application for the APU ELM summer 2014 cycle. I don't think my stats are very good, so I'm a little worried. I have a 3.2 GPA from UCSD as a human bio major, 3.6 pre-req GPA, EMT for 1 year, and president of a volunteer organization. If anyone has similar stats and got in, it'd make me feel a lot better about my chances =)
Hey! so they had me do the writing sample, which took about 30 min and then I went upstairs to talk to the assistant director. She was really nice and just went over what classes I still needed and emphasized the difficulty of the program. I guess they base their admission on a point system. If you have a GPA from this to that then you get this amount of pts, if you did volunteering you get this amount of pts, etc.
I see. So apparently they use a point-based system to rank applicants. Certain threads in this forum suggested they look at the overall applicant. But I guess it would be difficult to select candidates from hundreds of applicants without a point system. Did she mention how many applications they received by any chance?
Hello all!
I have an interview/academic advising session this Thursday at the San Diego campus. Has anyone interviewed at this or any other location? From what I have been reading and from previous years, it is a pretty laid back interview. For those who have already interviewed, any tips, advice, or suggestions before going into the interview?
My interview was at the SD campus and it went well. I had the same writing prompt and was given 25min to complete it and then the interview began thereafter. She went over questions I had regarding the program, my prereqs, talked about my personal statement, and asked me a few questions. It was a very lax environment. I am not sure if they are still conducting interviews, but we are suppose to hear back by August I believe. Has anyone else heard back at all or got a different response on when we would be hearing back? I am hoping to hear back sooner...the waiting is just killing me!
I applied to the Azusa location and the program director said they would communicate the admission results within the first two weeks of September as the school would be closed for a few weeks in August, which makes a pretty long time to wait . It might be different for the San Diego location though. Have you applied else where? What are your stats if you don't mind me asking?
