AVC 2021 Spring Nursing Program

Published

Hello!!

I've noticed that there was not a thread for the AVC Spring 2021 nursing program and I wanted to make one so that anyone can share their thoughts and to give encouragement to anyone who needs it.

I've personally used a previous thread (AVC Fall 2020) which helped me figure out what I needed to do before I entered the program and the thread answered any questions that I had.

So don't be shy, ask any questions. If you have any questions for me I'd love to answer them. I hope all the best for everyone.

Sincerely,

TotallyARealNurse

Thank you for the information. I emailed her last week if she received my application and she never wrote back.

For those of you that are applying as a transfer student, did admission and records already transfer your pre-reqs to AVC? I've already sent my transcripts to AVC admission and records but am having trouble contacting them.

I have a ridiculous amount of transfer credits. You have to speak with an advisor to make sure that your credits were accepted once your transcripts have been uploaded into AVC’s system. It should be noted on your ED plan that ---------------------- (or one of the advisors) sent to you after you meet with them. They have to be accepted and in their system before you apply or your application will be incomplete.

------------------ took my unofficial transcripts and made an ED plan. I sent my transcripts to admission and records back in August but under my unofficial transcript for AVC I don't see the transfer credits have been applied yet. I reached out to admission and records by email hopefully they get back to me soon. Anyone else in the same situation?

I spoke with admissions and records early on a weekday in September I think. I'm not sure if my transcripts have been processed too.

I'm leaving them voicemails and emails but not hearing back. Hopefully they process it soon.

Update: I spoke to AVC admission and records and for students transferring credits they do not apply transfer credits until we graduate. All they can do is confirm that they've received the transcripts from the previous schools attended. For those transferring, did you guys receive the same response?

Yes, but you have to make sure with the advisor that your credits are accepted. All the transcript office does is accept your transcripts and upload them into their system.

I had a battle Royale with the school this past February about accepting my A&P 1&2 classes I took at UNLV. They ended up accepting my courses but I had submitted them the previous October and found out mid February they didn’t accept them. Two weeks before my application was due March 1.

The advisors are the ones that look at the courses on your transcript and accept them for equal AVC credit if it’s on their pre-approved list and if it’s not on their list it gets sent to the dean of the department for acceptance or not.

The president of AVC emailed today saying that Spring semester will be the same as it is this semester, mostly remote.

I don't know how to reply to someones comment but if they will follow this year then AVC 2022 Spring RN program will be hybrid. Meaning you guys will go to Lab (at avc in UH) and practice your nursing skills. On one day of your week you will have a zoom lecture which talks about the readings you should have read for that week. You won't always go to Lab, you will have clinicals aswell at the hospital (we are going to Palmdale Regional Medical Center do to covid) and do some clinicals online (we had to do to covid).

@TotallyARealNurse Thank you for the clarification!

Hello Everyone! , I'm about to complete my pre-reqs this fall and I`m just wondering if any of you can give me information about the TEAS. Do I have to take it at AVC?, if so How do I schedule it? is there any payment or anything? Thank you !

Due to COVID, AVC does not know when they will host the TEAS at the school. From my understanding on how it worked before is that after you complete prereqs and submit the nursing application by the deadline, AVC will invite you for free as long as you haven't taken the TEAS before (I'm not sure if it was once or twice a year). The other option is to take the test remotely with ATI TEAS (check all the different cities that offer it remotely because one city may have a better test date for you...cost is $107).

I would talk with a nursing counselor to find out if deadlines have changed due to COVID and the possibility of taking the test with them vs remotely.

Congrats on almost completing prereqs and good luck with the TEAS!!

Thank you so much! I honestly have no idea on how admission works,  do people wait a long time to be admitted? I
