You are so right that US likes to nickel and dime everywhere! Do you think it's worth to apply CVS although I would never go and work in NY? I am in such a dilemma about what to do and what not to... But thank you for all your replies Daniel :))

Also, @Daniel Timmons if I wanted to give it a shot for VA, do I apply on their BON website as shown below? I see that CGFNS has VA BON as a recipient.

You won't know the outcome until you finish your application with VA BON. And if you want to send your CES to another BON you will have to pay CGFNS to do so again! 😞

And I can't know the answer to that LOL, I used NY to register in Texas and it's worked for me! Other states might have different processes though. I might work in NY one day, but I don't have plans to haha.

Hi Daniel!

Thank you so much for your all help.

I am facing a similar to most people here in terms of ob/gyn and paediatric deficiency (both theory and clinical hours).

I have already applied for Texas but awaiting a response (which will probably be a no).

Should I just apply for New York at the same time?

Also wanted to ask, do you remember how many theory and clinical hours you had for those areas?

Thank you so much again.

Hey, I would apply to New York state because you can always endorse your license. It will be even more of a headache to receive a deficiency notice and then have to go back and submit a CVS for New York. The processing times for New York can take anywhere from 6 to 9 months so it's better to get started on it now - you most likely will have a deficiency in hours if you were Australian-educated. Good luck!

Hi

NY doesnt require ped/obs and then you can apply for the endorsement in state such as texas. Texas doesnt require ces report once you are licensed in other state

I did my nursing in melbourne and now I have ny as well as texas

Can I ask how you endorsed? Did you need to complete a visa screen to do so? I'm worried CGFNS will say my nursing hours are insufficient once they review my visa screen. Am already licensed in New York but have a job lined up in Maryland (which I'll probably obtain that license by endorsing to a compact state that doesn't require CES). Thanks so much.

Hi Y'all!!

Can I just say how happy I am to have found this thread! So glad I'm not the only one dealing with this. As a US citizen, who moved to Aus and became a nurse, I NEVER thought it would be this hard to get registered when moving back to the USA. I have been sent between the BON and colleges for over 12 months now. No one has any answeres...It is beyond a joke. It looks like I'm going to take the CGFNS route to NY thanks to this thread!

How have yall found CGFNS overall? I see some people saying the communication is poor. How was the application process? It seems to be pretty detailed.

Hi there

I was in the same situation only a few month ago..desperately looking forinformation and searching and calling numerous times...and now am glad I got the licenses and being able to help others

advise for you..

contact cgfns and start cvs process This will take anywhere 6-10 month

start NCLEX prep. I did mine in melbourne

once passed NCLEX for ny then apply texas endorsement, this could take 3 month. Note if you apply texas endorsement CES report is not required by the texas board.

Apparently other states accept endorsement without ces report. Once you sign the contract with US recruit agent, they issue you SSN and they usually arrange license endorsement for you

-No additional course/supplement needed

-No need to do ped/obs certificate in Australia or US

-No need to go to canada

once you passed NCLEX for NY, endorse to texas is a smooth process

send me an email then I will reply to you

I cant find your email address in this

Please can I send you my email. I am newly considering moving to the USA and your advise is helping greatly, here it is [email protected]. thank you

Hi,

Thank you that sounds like a good idea. What about applying for both CVS and CES at the same time? Would that be possible?

What states can you endorse to from New York or Texas? Where do you find this information?

Yes as far all the threads I read it's possible. @Daniel actually did CES for NY first, passed NCLEX then applied for CVS NY. Cuz CGFNS would have your school paperwork, they won't need anything else. I am thinking to go in that way too. Btw do u know if we can extend CES report as mine expires in 10 months. I can see expiry is 1 year from the day CES is issued.

So if I'm planning to be endorsed in Texas after NY then do I need to apply for both the CES and CVS? Apologies, it's a little confusing to me.
