Endorsing NY license to another state
Of course! What state are you going through? If you can get licensed through NY and then endorse to a compact state you should be OK. Can I ask why you chose to study in NZ? Feel free to private message if you need, I'm happy to exchange details for other messaging platforms as well if you ever have any questions. I wish the process was a lot simpler/straightforward.

Endorsing NY license to another state
No worries, Elsa - ask away. I'm not sure what requirements the NY BON has but I know many AU/NZ RN's have managed to obtain registration through them. I started my application with CGFNS and dropped the papers that needed to be filled out at my school. They were pretty timely and shipped the documents within two weeks. I just asked them to follow what was on the pages and they did it correctly I suppose. I have a friend that studied at AUT who managed to gain NCLEX eligibility via CGFNS so clearly our schools in NZ know what they're doing when it comes to those forms LOL. I have a job offer in Maryland so hoping to get there but I'm super anxious about my visa screen so I'm really not sure what's going to happen. I'm waiting for CGFNS to receive all my documents for that and then I'll pay for the expedited review.

Endorsing NY license to another state
Hey Elsa, I graduated mid 2020 from MIT in Auckland. I'm not sure how easy it is to endorse to other states, for some you need a visa screen and others require a CES evaluation. I'm stuck on that part myself and am worried I won't actually be able to work anywhere but in NY (which won't be possible since I'll need a green card which will require the visa screen!) I'm so stressed about the whole thing but if you already have a green card, you'll most definitely be able to work in NY. Couldn't tell you about the other states sorry!

Australian nurse wanting to work in America
Can I ask how you endorsed? Did you need to complete a visa screen to do so? I'm worried CGFNS will say my nursing hours are insufficient once they review my visa screen. Am already licensed in New York but have a job lined up in Maryland (which I'll probably obtain that license by endorsing to a compact state that doesn't require CES). Thanks so much.

CGFNS CES re-evaluation
Thanks, I have since found out that MD does require a CES report for international nurses. However, I have asked my agency if I can endorse to another compact state (such as Texas) which does not require the CES, in order to be eligible to work in MD that way. All the best with your CES re-evaluation, I'll let you know of any updates from my end!

Endorsing NY license to another state
Hello! I've been offered a job in Maryland, however, I'm a little worried about endorsing my license as I was educated in New Zealand and am aware that my education hours will may not be adequate for the BON. Has anyone successfully endorsed to a compact licensure state with a NY license and did you encounter any issues? Thanks!

CGFNS CES re-evaluation
Haven't done this but think I might need to as I have a NY license trying to apply to MD. Please let me know of any updates you have, I'm worried my CES report will be deficient - I didn't realise I had to do a whole other CES report just to endorse! Good luck.

Australian nurse wanting to work in America
Hey, I would apply to New York state because you can always endorse your license. It will be even more of a headache to receive a deficiency notice and then have to go back and submit a CVS for New York. The processing times for New York can take anywhere from 6 to 9 months so it's better to get started on it now - you most likely will have a deficiency in hours if you were Australian-educated. Good luck!

Australian Nurse to USA
Hey Jeff, sorry I know this is an old post but I have a question re the VisaScreen. I also obtained my eligibility via CVS for New York state. Did you have to convert the CVS into a CES for Tennessee in order to complete the VisaScreen? (hope that makes sense)... Or did your CVS documents carry over for your VisaScreen application? Thanks!

NCLEX/NZ nurse wanting to work in USA
No worries! Thank goodness my CGFNS application went pretty smoothly - check my recent comments for a copy of my timeline. They didn't have any issues with the documentation provided - I went to school at MIT so if you also went there, clearly they know what they're doing. Biggest tip I can give you is to go via the CVS route and then you can endorse to whatever state you want. NYBON seems to accept our schooling where other states have issues with our deficiencies in obgyn hours. I can't remember how much the CGFNS application was but add a couple hundred extra onto that for the school transcripts, courier, etc. If you can help it, I'd do the CGFNS process yourself and then opt for a direct hire agency once you pass the NCLEX. A lot of the international staffing agencies seem to rip their nurses off, I know one was sued last year...

You will have to go to Australia. I am also from New Zealand and sat my exam in Melbourne. Cost me $1400 (ouch) because I went middle of December but it was 1000 percent worth it!

New Zealand RN just received NCLEX eligibility from NYSED!!
Timeline as follows: Nursing license verification sent: 10 March / Received: 1 April 2022 Transcript sent by school: 27 March / Received: 7 June 2022 Notarised document sent by me: 15 April / Received: 6 July 2022 So about four months in total. Everything was sent with expedited shipping so took 2-3 weeks to get there. Re licensure - I would go for NYBON - I’m 99.9% sure you can transfer your license to most states excluding California and Hawaii. I was actually supposed to have an interview with an employer in PA the other day, but they wanted me to pass the NCLEX first - the agency who organised it knew I would be licensed in NY so I really don’t think it matters. Also yea, the phone lines suck, I just tried calling as early as possible. Good thing I work night shifts - accommodates for the time difference ?

New Zealand RN just received NCLEX eligibility from NYSED!!
hey Sam! No worries - call CGFNS and they'll convert your application to CVS. You don't need your school to resend the docs, I had all my docs sent in for CES as well but CGFNS managed to convert my application from CES to CVS before it was sent to Texas BON. There are no additional fees, the only extra thing you need to arrange for CVS is a notarised document which outlines all the details you entered on your CGFNS application. I had to print the document and get it stamped and signed by an authorised notary, then I expedited shipping to have it sent to CGFNS in PA. I believe CGFNS does have their own online notary service (think it was backed up when I tried scheduling hence went the snail mail route) but have a look online once they change your application to CVS to see if you can get it done quicker that way. Hope this helps!

Hey Sam, I’m confused - have you completed CVS with CGFNS? If so, send all your docs in and give them 3-4 months to process everything. At the same time, apply for your license on NYSED website so that when CGFNS sends your CVS report, everything is ready to go. I’ll attach a link to a blog that I followed which outlines each individual step.
