Hello everyone. I just recently passed my NCLEX and finally got my NY RN license. Im just wondering which step should I take next in moving to USA, whether to apply for E3 visa (which requires me to obtain an employer first) or apply in one of the agencies like Avant? Has anyone had the same dilemma with me? what would you suggest and how long they normally take to process either options? thank you

I guess a lot depends on where you want to live. Agencies can’t guarantee you work in the place you want to live and work in and I believe the E3 is quicker to obtain if you have employer and will be in the area you want to live in

Hi Jeff

World Health Staff Solution's is the best agency to go through. They do direct hire contracts and are trust worthy and ethical.

contact them and they will get you a sponsorship from a hospital for a EB3 visa.
You can also in Apply for your Visa Screen cert. it can be time consuming

As a previous E3 holder, DEFINITELY do that. You do not want to do a green card process at this time. E3 costs the employer nothing, you pay the minimal fees and can get one anytime. Find an employer, all you need is an offer letter and no financial requirement for them. Make sure you are direct and clear that you DO NOT require "visa sponsorship" as that makes them think of H1B and greencards etc.

that's what I thought. agencies can put you anywhere and have to work there for 2 years contract. thank you for your response.

Thank you. I was thinking which way to go and you made me decide now to go with E3. did your transition from Aus to US went smoothly or did you encounter any hurdles? also, how long did it take you to obtain your green card after moving to the States?

Definitely do the EB3 route if you wanted to stay in the US in a long term basis or you want to settle here for good. Worldwide health solutions was my agency too before and the process was so smooth.

Hi Jeff214

How is your application process going? I am waiting for my eligibility to take the NCLEX and very keen to go via the E3 pathway. Is this what you ended up doing? Keen to hear your experiences and tips. Thank you!

Hi. I opted for EB3 visa (green card) for 2 reasons: 1 is I found it hard to look for employers to sponsor me, I have more than 10 yrs of experience and have applied in some hospitals in NY but no one responded, I guess they are looking for green card holders or opting to hire nurses through agencies. The other reason is that I don't wanna be tied up to a sponsoring hospital. E3 visa only last 2 years and you have to reapply again every time, compared to the freedom when you have a green card, u can work anywhere once your contract ends which is 2 yrs for me. But that's only based on my experience, u might have a better luck looking for employers to sponsor E3. Best of luck on your NCLEX.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

How long did it take you to process your EB3 and are you doing it with a recruitment agency?

Cheers

Hey Jeff, sorry I know this is an old post but I have a question re the VisaScreen. I also obtained my eligibility via CVS for New York state. Did you have to convert the CVS into a CES for Tennessee in order to complete the VisaScreen? (hope that makes sense)... Or did your CVS documents carry over for your VisaScreen application? Thanks!
