Hi guys I am new to this group. A little background about myself. I am an American nurse student here in Melbourne Australia. I did about 85% of my prerequisite for nursing in Los Angeles. But went to RMIT for my diploma in nursing. Next year I will go to Monash or Deakin for my Bachelor in Nursing. I might do a double in midwifery or after my bachelor. I have read that Australia does not have enough clinical hours in peds, and pysch. I didn't find this out till after I came to Australia. So when I return home to the states I have a social security number. I have a degree, I would like to practice/work in Los Angeles, Texas, New York, or Florida. Now I know I can take my NCLEX-RN in Sydney Australia. I also know CGFNS will translate my Australian degree and university credits to American standards. So when I apply for a job back stateside I will know what other clinical hours or classes I will need. I know I can take some individual classes at a university in Santa Ana California.
Now am I missing anything? I will work here for maybe a year to gain experience so I won't apply back stateside as a new grad nurse with no experience. Getting a job should be easy for me as a high school friend is also a nurse, but he now manager for an ICU ward in California. I just need to know what classes and hours I need.
Thanks in advance!

You will not be able to sit NCLEX until hours are met. Could you not ask the university if they can help you to get the appropriate hours in clinical and theory areas?
This is the form for overseas educated nurses that will apply for a CA license.

Step by step instructions are available on the CGFNS website, Once you pay the fees for CGFNS application you will have access to two forms which you only need to sign and forward to your University and Professional body to send back to CGFNS. They do not accept any forms from you, only University and Professional body can send back forms to them. Once again do not rush this process any mistakes done on the details you provide to CGFNS will cost money and time to correct in the future eg Names, DOB.
Yeh I found the form. All my request to professioanl bodies and university has been processed and sent to GCFNS but without the form. Omg now I have to pay all these places again to make another request?
Or you guys think CGFNS will accept the forms alone....
Thank you for letting us know that there were forms to be submitted. No where says that.

I am also Australia trained and would like to take the nclex but I will definitely lack ob and peds education. What kind of course will cover those? Does a bachelor/ grad diploma in midwifery works? Please let me know cuz I'm curious.
