Step by step instructions are available on the CGFNS website, Once you pay the fees for CGFNS application you will have access to two forms which you only need to sign and forward to your University and Professional body to send back to CGFNS. They do not accept any forms from you, only University and Professional body can send back forms to them. Once again do not rush this process any mistakes done on the details you provide to CGFNS will cost money and time to correct in the future eg Names, DOB.

I would say why re invent the wheel...many UK/EU nurses on here have done this transfer successful and shared their stories on here. Your pursuit is not impossible but it is going to be very tough though. Even with the right qualifications and a straight forward application and getting to your first shift in USA as an international nurse can be a lengthy process with no guarantees that you will even make it. You have to consistent, persistent and determined to reach your goal. If you even have any doubt or you not sure whether this is the right move for you l would suggest you stop now. For every step you take there comes a wait some times half a year. Ok that out of the way here comes some suggestions about how you can go about the process. 1. There is a new course offered by Kings college that helps with Topping up your original course and also prepares you for NCLEX. It is oversubscribed and pricey but if your goal is to go to the USA that should not put you off. l do not know much about this course but if you join the course it will almost get you to the USA because the people on the course also are dreaming of working in the US. The course has connections with official NCLEX course and some US employers so they can even hook you up with a job in the end. 2. DIY you could choose to do the process yourself and just like people who opt to get direct hires in the US or employment in the US this will be extremely hard and expensive. It is easier to use an Agency to get you to the USA. The DIY option will be more useful for you if you trained under the project 2000 UK nursing training style which meets US standards so in that case your will have done all the 5 areas from pediatrics, maternity, adult, psychiatry etc. If you are fresh out of university l would go with number 1 and do the course. You might struggle to find Mental health Employers most agencies tend to favour adult type specialities like ICU, OR but am sure there is some thing out there if you dig hard enough. generally the steps are 1. get a transcript reviewed by CGFNS and a CES report 2. Apply to BON with CES report to hand if you meet requirments you will get ATT to sit NCLEX 3. Pass NCLEX 4. Get employer for green card or marry American citizen :) whatever you find easier and quicker. 5. Move to US and live the American dream. One last word of advice.... No one knows enough about this process to be a pessimist...the rules and opportunities are very dynamic... Good luck!.

For NCLEX purposes as long as you fulfil the requirements of the BON and given the clearance by CGFNS and your CES report is accepted by BON then you might be able to get away with out doing the IELTs Next step is Employment then migration. this is not a requirement for Green card/Visa by USCIS the US migration authority. It is a requirement by the official credential evaluator (CGFNS) used by the USCIS. You will need a Visa Screen certificate. and the Exemption for IELTs from CGFNS website are below. EXEMPTION DUE TO ENGLISH-BASED PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION In some circumstances, a VisaScreen® applicant may be exempt from taking an English language proficiency examination. To be exempt from having to take an English language proficiency examination based on the completion of an English-based professional education, an applicant must meet the following two criteria: Entry-level professional education must have occurred in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada (except Quebec), New Zealand, Ireland or the United States; AND English must have been the language of instruction, including the language of the textbooks. EXEMPTION DUE TO US EMPLOYMENT - VISASCREEN RENEWAL ONLY To be exempt from having to take an English language proficiency examination based on having worked in the United States, an applicant must meet the following three criteria: Demonstrate employment in the United States for at least 27 months, including 9 months employment prior to the date of the renewal order. The applicant must be employed in the profession for which he or she is seeking the VisaScreen® service. The US employer must sign and submit an employment summary on corporate letterhead. Well that is going to be a challenge but it is still possible to get through with hard work. You may need to contact your preferred BON or several off them and let them know your situation. Its quite unique and may be the BONs will have encountered similar cases of applicants who had (original documents destroyed or Universities where they trained no longer exist )and will guide you accordingly regarding what you need to provide to gain authority to test. Yours is Easy then...you already in the Kitchen( US). Soon or later you will get your chance to eat. Get your papers to CGFNS to get them evaluated. I do not think you even needed to go to Germany to get your papers. l have done most of this process online and over the phone never went to my Uni, Professional body or BON. Organised for NCLEX online l only had to go to pearson to do the test. I now have my full US RN license. You have a green card which is half the battle so keep going!

Hi there am not German but l can tell you about the process. The steps are constant for whatever part of the world you come from. The hurdles and hoops are the same. l would concentrate on doing the steps of course it is very reassuring to see some one from your country making it to the US. Here is something to make you feel better...nurses from the third world eg Kenya,Nigeria go through the hoops on a daily basis and make it to the US. If nurses from the third world can make it what excuse do you have if you are from the first world. You have to be determined because it is two steps forward then one backwards. That is what makes it worthwhile in the end it is not easy that is why Trump wants to build a great big wall because it is really the land of opportunity :) so buckle down go get your piece of the American pie its yours you just have to claim it ! l remember there was a time Canada was easy to get into they had a points based system and an online self screen to see who is legible l suppose that need is now satisfied. But this goes in circles the need might come back in a few years as now days the work force is young and very internationally mobile. But again thinking optimistically l would look for agencies taking nurses to Canada they are up to date with changes and know how to navigate the system.

The truth is in the pudding! Avant is really doing well approval after approval.

(+/-) is used a lot in the medical world especially when consenting patients it means + might need or - might not need. reason l included Number 3 is these posts are not just viewed by the person asking the question, this being an International section of this website almost 95% of people reading this will need Number 3. the irony of this Passing NCLEX and having a green card does not GUARANTEE one a Job, l kid you not there nurses in USA with NCLEX and US passport with out work because they only want to work in big cities...its about experience, Hardwork and Flexibility. There thousdands of international nurses getting jobs in under served areas ( where there is plenty of work) then later joining the competition in the big cities with advantage of experience.

well put from folks above but in summary how to get RN JOB - 1. NCLEX pass 2. JOB 3. +/- VISA/ GREEN CARD sponsorship If you have Number 1...Number 2 will literally look for you and give you a sign on bonus even help you with Numer 3 :) Please note- having a high GPA wont help you pass NCLEX if you do not take the necessary preparation.

Simple answer am not an Avant nurse but from extensive research Avant has work in 38 states and like any other agencies the posts are dynamic you have new hospitals tenders, you have old avant nurses finishing their contracts and choosing to leave the places assigned leading to Avant filling the place with new nurses. Overrall there is a national shortage so you could be going anywhere infact l have seen a batch of nurses doing the 6 week programme and each nurse going to a different state after their intro program in Florida. Its a lottery write down 38 states put them in a bowl and pick one thats how it works .

Hi there your starting your journey at the right time. The shortages are real we need nurses every where. Next year when we leave the EU you will have the same chances as EU citizens but an added advantage of being from an English speaking country. We are very specialist in nature so bear that in mind we are not generalists. In your case all you need to get your registration which should not be that hard then jobs will look for you as there tonnes of them. The other day l met a nurse from Canada who had recently relocated. l do not know your motivation for coming to work here if it for UK work exposure and EU travel exploration you will surely have a good time. I do not know much about the OSCEs and international registration but am sure there many posts you could read to see the challenges and resources people use to gain registration here. This time next year hospitals that are short here will extend their recruitment drives to North America and world wide am sure English speaking countries will be favoured. Good luck!
